I had a very bad experice with your company today.
To start off I placed an order yesterday and was charged 31.67 at 105 pm on 2/1/19 for 3 books.
all of which where in the buy 2 get 1 free section , but i was charged for all three , but im okay with that. Today i go to check my order status and see that my billing info is wrong. So i correct the billing information only. To my surprise i was charged another 31.67. So I call the customer service number within 5 min of the second charge. The rep i was speaking with kept informing me that i was only charged 1 PRE AUTHORIZATION not 2 like my bank app was showing me. So i ask for a supervisor and when she gets on the phone she says she sees both pre authorizations i ask her to cancel or reverse the one from today that was just debited from my account. To which she says the only way to do this was ro cancel the entire order .So I said yes cancel the order because i do not want to do business with a company who charges twice for one order. She said she could see that on pre authorization was reversed and i ask about the second one and she said NO ITS NOT SHOWING REVERSED YET YOU WILL JUST NEED TO WAIT THE 7-10 DAYS TO SEE IF IT DROPS OFF YOUR ACCOUNT. So I called my banking institution and only one charged has been reversed from your company. I would like my second charge reversed ASAP .I work for a call center that processes payments and i know that this can be done. I just spent about 20 minutes at your Midland, Texas store and was helped by a few employees to find some gifts. I approached the checkout and typically the checker will ask for next in line and greet the customer...not the case today (around 1:30 pm). I approached the attendant and she looked at me as I laid my items on the counter. Since she didnt say anything I asked "Could you get me one of those Wall Street Journals too?". She said "I think I heard a please in there...did I hear a please" (I just wanted to pay out and didnt want to be schooled by a stranger at the checkout). "I guess your not going to say please?" she asked. I said "I just want to add a paper."...then she responded "You know a lot of older people talk about the younger generation and I just think they come by it quite honestly."...I already had my card out, ready to pay & said "I think I'll just pass on this purchase" - only around $40 worth and started to walk away. I started to walk out the door and then turned and asked for the manager. The manager was very professional and said she would talk w/ the cashier this evening & I trust she will. I have traded at B&N since they opened in Midland & I've never been challenged by any cashier ever, in Midland. B&N has always been very pleasant to shop in...but I don't need this. As I walked towards the exit the cashier proudly smiled big, almost as if to say...she was proud to turn my business. The manager's name was Donna I believe. Thanks

how do i reach billing for my orders and especially book bud. my credit card was compromised and i am trying to get my new number to you.

also i tried to order books by phone for Christmas with gift cards and could not get past the gift card department to tell me their value but never got to sales. gave up, bought elsewhere. how hard can it be for me to ORDER HARD BACKS W/O MEMBERSHIP?

This was the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I had to phonetically spell my email address 4 times after pronouncing it. That was just so the representative could identify my order. After multiple attempts in different ways to ask the same question : "when will this book be available to the public." I kept getting :"your order will now ship when the first item is available."....I had to end the call. When I called back a second time, the rep I spoke with told me there would be a charge to ship the first items when they are available; which is the opposite of what I was told by the first rep. The second rep ended up waiving the fee after placing me on hold. Great. I expected more from this company, outsourcing aside. This makes me not want to shop online at this store anymore. It's a shame because I have been a loyal customer for many years.

U guys need to fire your distribution company, and ship in-house, from the managers on down, they are a bunch of CLOWNS! I am pissed to the 10th degree, 4 months, where is my refund, please!

My spouse is working at your store right now, xmas eve, after 7pm because of change over of displays for Saturday. Seriously? This is company policy? An hour after closing and people are still being kept behind? Not really taking care of the employees are you? I am urging them to quit without notice immediately. Unforgivable.

I just received assistance from Siri at the Barnes & Noble Store in Ladue, Missouri. I have spent several hours this week speaking with customer service representatives on a variety of topics; i.e., health insurance, banking, gift orders, etc. Most of these experiences have been poor. The representatives have not wanted to take responsibility, didn't really want to help and placed me on "indefinite hold." I couldn't have been more pleased speaking with Siri. She went over and above to help, placing an order for the original request and the putting another alternative on reservation. It is refreshing to find someone that does sure a great job. Barnes & Noble is fortunate to have someone like Siri. I hope I spelled her name correctly. JSW

My name is Andrea Minera. I visited a Barnes and Noble store on 10/15/15. I had a specific purchase in mind and was in the store less than 10 minutes before a very disturbing incident occurred. I was gassed with urine while in the store. It was very discrete and I wasn't aware of anything until I smelled the strong odor of urine. I'm not talking fresh urine. It was rancid and very concentrated. I'm a correctional nurse for the mentally ill and the odor was all too familiar. I reported the incident to the store manager, and then received a call from the claims administrator, Roseanne Haughey. I gave a detailed description of what occurred and was assured the cameras would be reviewed. I have yet to hear back from Roseanne despite reassurance I would hear back from her after cameras were reviewed. She was to get back to me on 10/19, and well as 10/27 after I called her again. I filed a police report with Rancho Cucamonga PD. This has been a very traumatic experience for me, and all I've heard so far is "we'll get back to you." I am very disappointed in lack of concern for customer safety. This is the last place I would expect to be assaulted. I would really appreciate follow-up on this matter.

How come you do not provide a working tracking number? Meaning when you try and obtain info. on the shipped order no information is provided.

I do not believe that this is a good practice and makes a customer think twice before ordering anything from B&N when you do not fulfill a complete order with clarity as to shipping status.

I have tried putting my title in libraries,Three Divine Works. It is in NY Library and Sarasota Fl library. The plan was to have it purchased in the whole USA , in all the systems in the country, and then carried by Barnes and Noble. The last store I called up was Baychester in the Bronx, N.Y. The manager said he'll look into it. I wanted this message to go to all the stores without me having to call them. A CEO president at America Star Books, my publisher was supposed to introduce the book to the stores, with a promotional purpose to get the book listed. Everything is a dead end , no stores put it on the shelf, and libraries won't buy it, after I called fifty up and filed forms for purchasing, my royalties were only 3.54 in Sept. The check is not worth cashing. My book is in the same category and level as the rest in the stores...so besides being print on demand, it should be in there! I'm looking for action in he title without demanding it, and not having to call any store branches who repeat I can't. I've gotten no help so far, and tried the Florida mayor's office in Jacksonville, to assist in libraries purchasing Three Divine Works, and nothing happened. A girl from the office did call up the library, but at this time , I earned a dollar in three years. Thanks. Sharon Maloney

This issue started when I used the Marketplace to order a book that was not available on the regular B&N site. I ordered the book on July 19, from a seller in VA, MediaStore12345 because I live in TN, their rating was not bad, usually I go by how close they are to me and the rating. I did not read comments, I should have...after the fact. The book was supposingly sent out on the 21st of July. I got a email from MediaStore12345, but not any tracking number. I was alittle alarmed. I order from Amazons site and never was stiffed there so I tried to remain vigilant. Today is the 18th of August, no book and alas, I somehow lost the emai from MediaStore12345. I have repeatedly sent emails to Barnes and Noble Customer Service to be told to contact the seller once. I have repeatedly asked them for the sellers email/phone number but have gotten no response whatsoever. Luckily the book was not terribly expensive, but it is the fact that Barnes and Noble CS doesn't really care at all to help in any way, it is their site after all. I have been a loyal member and have ordered many, many books and nook books from this company for many, many years and this is how they treat a loyal member. I have used B & N for most of my reading, books, nook online,,,,, I will now use Amazon for most of my business from now on. I got the same book from Amazon in a week! Still waiting for a refund from B & N Marketplace.....not holding my breath. Bad customer service.......from the comments i guess I am not surprised. Someone there needs to be looking into their customer service employees before they don't have a job/company at all because of bad business practices. I hope this gets past those same CS people who don't care to someone who does............
