I purchase a NEW Magellen GPS 5 years ago. The unit stopped working after being used 5 times. They had me send it back for repairs. Weeks later I got the same type of unit, but it was NOT my unit that was barely used. It was a different unit that had scratches all over it and looked very worn. That unit has ceased to work also. I have contacted Technical Support a few times and finally spoke with someone from the Philippines. I asked about a replacement or discount I read on-line. She indicated I could get a 30% discount but had to call them back to place the order. I was NOT comfortable dealing with someone from another country. Still unable to get any help. I will never purchase another Magellan product. I don't understand how you can treat customers like this and stay in business.

I am trying to register my Magellan 5" 6230 GPS. I am having problems
on-line and cannot get a person to help me on the phone. I hope I have not

UPDATE has been down for five days that I have tried
I have trtied at night and in the daytime what a sorry mess coming up on the last three day weekend

Could not download map updates so attempted to contact customer service via email and phone for assistance. Could NOT access "human" help via their site; and the phone numbers printed on their information were either disconnected or had been changed or didn't exist. VERY DISSATISFIED! Long live GARMIN!

Contacted Magellan on Wednesday 23 Oct
Spoke with Tech. regarding very slow signal acquisition (4-6 miles of driving before signal are picked up) then GPS positioning is somewhat inaccurate. I performed the analyze and defragment
Software and maps up to date

Total Time 48 minutes

Performed a local GPS check and the unit signal acquisition was just as slow. I committed to perform a “in vehicle” test

Thursday 24th Oct,
My wife drove the vehicle. When she returned she commented that she actually got to her destination just over 6 miles away, parked under a tree, then the GPS acquired signal. She left the unit powered up. On return home while crossing a bridge the unit had the vehicle actually crossing the lake some 250 + yds to the right of the bridge. Her GPS (Tomtom) has completed signal acquisition before she can get off the drive

Today: Friday 25th Oct
Spent 45 minutes talking to the tech going through all of the above, not once, not twice but three times. The tech was supposedly transferring me to his supervision for replacement/upgraded of the unit . Got transferred to a customer service rep who commenced the who process again. I gave them the file reference: XXXXXXX. I explained the above and that supposedly I was being transferred to a supervisor. She then put me on hold for a supervisor. 20 minutes later nothing but music. I had to run to the bathroom

Total time: ONE Hour

Dialed Magellan back, and been sitting here are 22 minutes, gave up in dire desperation

I have three of your units, not very impressed at all.

I have been trying to download "PhantomAlerts" for the past 3 days,for my Magellan RoadMate 2230T-LM without success. your representative in Manila, is unable to help. I am very angry about this issue. serial # for the RoadMate If this issue is not resolved I will file a complaint with (1)BBB, (2) FTC and (3)Consumer Protection agency.org. I paid $32.46 for this service. I want a refund of my entire sum immediately. Their support

I recently replaced the charger for a Magellan gps that was bought exactly 2 years ago. The charger worked one time only,then the gps stopped working. I bought the unit at London Drugs in Vancouver,B.C. I have used it probably 6 times since the purchase. I've found the bill and I am very upset that after such little use & only a 2 year old purchase,that it is no longer usable. I would like to request a full refund.It seems highly unlikely that a system would cease to work after such a short time. I'd appreciate hearing from someone in customer service. kindly,judy bates

Your customer service department via the telephone is the rudest, most inexperienced people. I've called twice to try and resolve a return issue. First person I could not understand and the second person put me on hole for 20-minutes (timed) and when no one came back on the line I hung up...and no one even tried to call me back to rectify the problem. This is terrible for a company with a reputation and product like Magellan.

It happened again!!! The last replacement unit you sent me is having issues. How inconvenient this failure was. It shut down while in transit to Lake Tahoe with the family. Now, it acts like it’s turning on and then shuts down. I actually got it to work for a while before it encountered the same problem again. I can only imagine the person who had this before me had the issue that Magellan could not figure out and I ended up with it. I AM NOT PLAYIING THIS RETURN GAME ANYMORE. I have explained my case each time and pleaded with you to send me a new unit and you neglected my concerns. I’ve lost count on how many of these refurbished units I’ve sent back…4???? YOU HAVE WASTED MY TIME DISRUPTED MY LIFE WITH YOUR DEFECTIVE ‘REFURBISHED’ GPS UNITS!!!! I DEMAND A FULL REFUND FOR THE UNIT PRICE!!!! I told you before that I did not want a used unit and you indicated your policy would not allow it. You obviously do not care about customer satisfaction. I AM DONE WITH MAGELLAN AND WILL NEVER RECOMMEND YOUR GPS UNITS TO ANYONE! This will be the last GPS unit I send back! Your refurbished units SUCK and your whole damn return policy sucks!!! I have never had such an awful customer experience or business transaction as pathetic as this one with Magellan. DON’T OFFER ME ANOTHER GPS UNIT BECAUSE THEY DON’T LAST AND THEY ARE JUNK!!!! REFUND MY MONEY OR I WILL GO STRAIGHT TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. Send me a return label so I can return your defective unit and be done with it.

Magellan roadmate is no good. Battery won't keep a charge.. Difficult to turn on.. Several glitches.. Where the hell is a working cust service number? Rip off inc. they should quietly close the doors to this place.. Bad business.

I have been trying for two days to get my new GPS registered. I thought I had it last night and today I am trying to find out if it isregistered. Have no idea how to find it out. I have called the customer service number and all I get is a repeat of the menu. The instructions say to press 2 at first prompt b ut it just keep prompting. Not a good business practice.

I have a Magellan RoadMate Pro 9165T and find it far more difficult to use than my previous product. The most critical issue is that it will NOT maintain a constant volume no matter how many options I select or change. Once set it slowly gets quieter the longer you drive leaving you to either put on earphones (illegal) that are connected to the unit or constantly watch it (not safe) to see any notices. I spoke to a rep at the recent Good Sam Rally in Louisville and she said to call the tech services folks. Trying to get thru to them is impossible. I would return this unit in a heartbeat if I could get even half my money back.

Whatever you do... DO NOT BUY A MAGELLAN and if It works.. count it a miracle. If you have issues Plan on spending a couple weeks dealing with the company. They are the most incompetent people we have ever dealt with. I wish we would have had this information prior to our purchase.

I odered a gps and paid with it using my credit card. THey shipped the package without my phone number so i did not know purotler had it.purultor tried to phone magellan to gey my phone number. because i did not pick it up and magellan would not return prolators phones calls they sent it back. ihave sent e-mails but get no reply. they have my money but i have nothing to show for it. i will never buy a magellan product again.

I am disappointed that just because my RoadMate is a 1700, I am reduced to purchasing map updates when the newer ones have lifetime updates included. So does Garman and they are much cheaper at purchase and work just as well. They just don't have the big screen. I am questioning the worth of the 7 inch screen. Didn't get much of a feeling of value in keeping me as a customer in my phone call with Customer Service.

I have a Magellan Roadmate 1700-MU purchased November 8, 2010. It quit working recently and I have had no satisfaction from phone nor internet support. The phone conversation identified that the GPS is indeed not working, but would not give any address nor return instructions. When I went to the internet they wanted a $30.00 fee I guess, for just giving me the information. After this runaround I will never buy a Magellan product again. Peter L. Peterson

The Magellan only has a 5 page manual. I am not
a computer person and have trouble getting it to do what I want. I went to your help page to get some advice on how to get directions to an airport over 200 miles away, and it would only
take me to close ones. Your help number is invalid according to the telephone operator, and to get information by computer. I have to pay up to thirty $30. I want to know how to send it back. Its probably the worst buy I ever made. W.B. Blakey
