We purchased a Maytag MVWB725BW washer brand new 3-18-14 from Orvilles Appliances in Lancaster NY. We have used the afresh cleaner as required, never use fabric softener or more than the required detergent. We returned from a 2 week vacation this week to a foul smelling washer. We cycled afresh 5 times, used white vinegar on a hot cycle, rinsed, and the smell is still there. We have also tried baking soda and bleach on separate cycles in an attempt to remove this smell from our home and we can't just open the windows as it's winter here now. We have decided to replace the washer as we were told it would probably take a service technician to open the machine up and clean it. This is unacceptable to us as we have only had the machine for a little more than 2 years. We were not told of this design flaw when we bought the machine and are very frustrated that there isn't more help on how to remove the smell other than open the machine and physically clean it. It is now 5 days since we returned home and we are not any closer to resolving the issue than we were when we opened the door to this terrible smell. We are very disappointed in Maytag and the lack of help to resolve this matter.
