Brand new Toro lawnmower (Model 20370) which would not start. Brought back to Home Depot and they spent 1 hour and could not start it either. Gave me an new mower. Store Sales Associates and the repair Associates at Home Depot tell me that they are selling a known defective product which fails to start OR stalls out and quits after a few minutes of use. Replacement mower I was given starts but sputters for the first 20 seconds and almost stops; then quits after a few minutes with white smoke coming from the carb. 3 e-Mails to Toro, all reviewed by different people who obviously had not reviewed the previous e-Mail. Their "common causes" answer is directly from the instruction manual (ie: gas may have water, etc), none of which apply to the problem. They tell me to bring the brand new mower, used twice, to a repair shop they suggest and PAY FOR ANY REPAIR. No Toro web site gives the name of any Toro Corporate individual you can contact. So do what I am going to do: take your Toro mower, motor running, if you can and walk thru your dealer's store. Get several people who have the same problem, if you can. You will probably be asked to leave and the police will be called. Remember, you have not committed any crime. While the cops are coming, call your local TV news Investigative Reporter and they will come if you create enough commotion. In this way you can get your story about Toro to the public. If your Dealer will not refund your money, you do have a lawsuit as it has been admissible that a known defective product is being sold on the open market.
