Fair is fair. When I'm dissatisfied, I'm happy to share, so when I'm pleased, I should do so.
Several months ago (six? I don't know), I bought an OfficeMax brand inkjet refill cartridge, HP57-equivalent, but didn't need to install it in my home printer until a month or so ago. Seemed to work fine until last week when the colors turned funky. I went through the three-stage cleaning process, but no better. The printer registered it at 3/4 full, at least, but for whatever reason, the magenta was not working. Whether it was not properly filled in the first place or just clogged, I don't know, but my color cartridge is usually good for at least a year or more, not a month, so I knew something was off.
I had no box, no receipt and little hope, but I took it down to the San Francisco Store (Division St.) to ask if they could diagnose it or whatever. I was prepared to be blown off and never to buy an OfficeMax branded product again. Instead, the woman I spoke with (sorry, no name) offered me another one at no charge, only asking to keep the cardboard box it came in. I just installed it, printed a test page, and it's fine.
Thank you to OfficeMax for backing their products, and to the employee who took me at my word. I'll be back, happily.

I will NEVER shop at Office Max again! When I first walked in, no one had even acknowledged me there, then I asked the girl cashier, im pretty sure her name is Melissa, where I could find the items that I needed to purchase. She was texting on her cell phone the entire time and her response was, "I dont know." She had also shrugged her shoulders as if she didnt even care. She didnt even offer to call anyone for help. After I eventually found what I needed, I proceeded to check out and the same girl was at the register, once again, texting on her cell phone and I had to get her attention to ring me up even though I had been standing there a few minutes. I told her that I didnt think that was very professional and asked to see her manager and she told me her manager wasnt available. After I paid, I started to walk off and she mumbled under her breath and called me the "B" word. I just kept walking, refusing to stoop to her level, but I wanted to tell everyone about my terrible experience with this rude young girl, Melissa.

A word of warning...do NOT order anything from Office Max to be shipped! On 11/29 we went to our local store to purchase the Kindle Fire they has advertised & off course, it was not in stock. They told us we could have it shipped free to our home in 2-3 days. On 12/5 I called their cust. service and was told it shipped & should have been delivered 12/2. I was told they would do a trace & call me on the 6th. No call, so I called again...was told they had not started the trace yet & someone would call me on today. No call today, so I called again & was told the trace had been started...no results yet! I asked if we could just go to the store & pick one up (now in stock) & was told NO because the trace had been started! This is ridiculous, what POOR customer service. Should have gone ANYWHERE ELSE...never again Office Max!

What a bunch of ignorance dealing with these people at Office Max. No one seems to know what happened to my Ink I had ordered online. It has just disappeared and they refuse to refund my money. I call and they tell me it has been shipped. I called a couple days later and they tell me it will be shipped. I continue to call and the same thing everytime. This is my last days with these incompetent people. Casey Bailey, a Customer Advocate as they call him or her emailed me. They stated if by end of day it has not arrived, contact her/him personally. No arrival so I contacted them. Suddenly they have seemed to disappear. I run a business and could have spent a lot of money with this store. Decided to take my business elsewhere. Hope they lock the doors on this company before anyone else has to go thru this nightmare.

I want to thank Stacy, a manager at the Office Max located at 1800 Oakdale Road in Modesto, CA. Stacy was extremely helpful, and definitely maintained my faith in Office Max. Because of Stacy's attitude and commitment to the customer, I will continue to shop primarily at Office Max. A huge thank you!

I just got off the phone with office max customer service. Wow! what a negative experience. First, the women sounded like she hated the world. Her answer to me was "no" before I could even get the question out. I'm glad I discovered the anti-customer mentality of this company before I spent some "real" money with them. So office Max my answer to you is "no" "no" "no". I'll be spending my money at OFFICE DEPOT!!!.

Some of their personnel have been trained like parrots to "blame the customer for the problem" "We just sell" with an attitude I got your $1000, I do not know answers to your questions go away and solve your own problems. This was after I purchased a Laptop and 3 year extended warranty and just tried to find some answers from them about the product. I am still working at it and am asking for my $200 extended warranty money back today.

Be careful with OfficeMax because they are very highly skilled criminals.

I’m from Europe who worked with them several years. They are unbelievable rut and they are not afraid to do anything if you are on their way.

Just read it very carefully - they even able to blackmail you with other larger corporations if you don’t give it up. Just simply ignore as you can their business, and let to know other people too for their safety. Base on your credit card they are analyzing your personal life, your workplace, your salary, credit, your company if you have one, but they have problem if you unemployed or you are using your own name instead a company name for your own business. This information is from Home Depot as they are practicing the same policy. Be careful with larger corporations, they are just want your business but they don’t see any value on citizens till they have the money. Morality out of question, it is a big joke for them, especially OfficeMax as I experienced from them.

Here is an interesting link.

I went to OfficeMax to have Thank you notes printed for someone I had made wedding invitations for. This was my second trip there for the same client of mine. The first time was to print her actual wedding invitations, which turned out good, but they called me twice because there printer wasn't always printing out the design smoothly. I didn't see how it was my issue and it sounded like a printer issue and stressed me out to no end. However, despite this, the invitations turned out well so I decided to use them for the Thank You notes. Big mistake.

The head impress person, Donna, is very full of herself, which I dealt with the first time because I was in such a bind. She got the notes printing out great and was going to cut, score and fold them. I thought this was great because it would save me a lot of time. They called me to delay the pick-up because they were busy and I said that was fine since they were basically saving me time by doing all the folding. I went in the next morning and quickly looked at the print job before I went to work. The printing was great.

Later that day I went to send them to my client and I noticed that paper fold. The tops of the note, where the fold was, had torn paper bits - on almost all of them. I looked at the inside and I noticed that the note had not been scored, which is what helps paper fold nicely. I should also note this is specialty paper I had to order for these. I went back to talk to Donna and told her I couldn't give these to my client. She asked why and I showed her. She told me she scored them herself and the tearing was due to the paper - not her. I told her these do not look like they have been scored and we proceeded to argue about it and she said she has 30 years of printing experience. I thought, "Great, then you should know how to properly score paper." She refused to do anything for me - print the job again or give me a refund. I called customer service that same day to file a complaint. I was told that the district manager would call me the next week.

Well here it is the next week and the district manager has not called me. I called customer service again and they could find no record of my complaint from last week. WHAT! How do you run a business this way? Oh, I should also add the store I go to is on Royal Saint George Drive in Naperville, IL. This is the store right by the corporate office. When I have gone there I have had to wait up to 30 minutes while the corporate people are serviced before me, a paying customer. I will never go there again for anything. Thankfully, Staples was able to save me. They will get all my future business.

Went to OfficeMax this evening to get printer ink cartridge refilled. The manager refused to refill because he said it might take 10 minutes and that the store closes in 20 minutes. My husband called to find out where else to go and so I then called the store to find out the name of the manager, and for 20 minutes...no one answered the phone. Guess he wanted to make sure he was able to leave at 9:00 when the store closed. Bought a cartridge at WalMart instead and will not go back to this store although it is more convienent.

After shopping around I found a computer on Officemax website listed for 499.99 on sale. On August 17, 2010 I called the local store to make sure they had this item in stock. I was asked for the item number and the sale price, I gave the information to the store associate. He returned to the phone and said yes they had some in stock. I drove an hour to the store on Donelson Pike in Nashville TN. The manager at the store refused to sell me the computer stating it was priced wrong on the Internet that it should not have been on sale and that the store could not honor the sale price. I notified the manager of the laws against FALSE ADVERTISING and he did not seem to care very much. I showed him the advertisement I had printed off the Internet and he still would not give it to me at that price I had to call customer service, after threatening legal action they finally called the store manager with me on the other line and made him give it to me at the advertised sale price. As the manager was cashing me out he told me I qualified for a $25.00 MaxPerks savings on my next visit due to the fact that I spent over $500.00 on this purchase. All I had to do was register for the card and it would be activated in a week or two and I could come in and get $25.00 worth of merchandise for free. When I check to make sure the card was active and found it wasn't I called customer service and spoke with Rebecca who informed me that MaxPerks did not apply to computers and that OfficeMax could not honor the store managers promotion. She apologized and said this particular store is constantly doing this because they get points for signing a certain amount of people up for The Perks Card offer. This company has such POOR customer service they have to lure customers in to their stores with false advertising and fake promotions. I will never shop at Office Max again nor will I recommend them to anybody and if I hear of somebody going there I will suggest they shop at Office Depot or Staples instead. On top of that I will be calling the BBB and reporting them. This is lousy business practices and if customer service was aware that the store is known for doing this (per Rebecca) why do they allow them to continue?

I made my last purchase at OfficeMax last week. I went in today to purchase paper for families in need of assistance with school supplies. I wanted to purchase school paper for 30 students-2/100 page packs each. I was promptly informed that Office Max would only allow me to purchase paper at the regular price not the sale price. I left my other items-binders, folders, etc.. and prompltly went to Target where I spent $400.00 for supplies. (Target let me purchase sale items for all children!) I will not be going to Office Max again any time soon. Target is right next door! This is my second bad experience at Office Max in less than a week. Last week I had to show the Manager how to use the copy machine!

Office max's customer service sux. Their carrier called me a day ahead to bring me my desk that was ordered. They told me to be home between 8:30 am and 5 pm. First of all, that is just ridiculous. However, I took an entire day off work to wait this shipment and it didn't show up until 8 pm that night. And guess what, I didn't even get my desk, I got my hutch.

I called their customer service dept. and talk about rude ignorant and just plain stupid girls who tried to make me sound stupid by explaining how a back order works. I then spoke to her "assistant supervisor" who refused to find out why THEIR carrier that they use didn't deliver what they said they were delivering and in the time frame ( a large time frame) they said they would be here. I wasted an entire day's work along with an additional 3 hours of my day!

The so called assistant supervisor also said she refused to report back to me and that it would be pointless for her to contact their carrier for a reason. That this was an unproductive conversation, which it was, because she offered no customer service. Only BS. Apparently this is how office max treats their customers.

Be aware consumers. I have filed a BBB complaint and will be contacting their corporate office. My attorney is also ready to take on such poor treatment and defacement of a customer. I can't wait to see this company go out of business.

We just made our LAST purchase at Office Max. We purchased a display scanner in January and open getting it home, it would not scan properly. Had a big black line down the middle of the document. Returned to the store and got a full refund. I think this was in January of 2010. After several weeks we decided to try it again so went back to the same Office Max store and purchased an identical scanner and installed. Same problem as before and does the same thing on our laptop. Even spent time on the phone with Xerox trying to download patches to correct the problem. They could not resolve it either. Returned to the Office Max store within 2 days of purchase and they want to charge a 15% restocking fee (total of $31.49) for us to return. They would only allow an instore exchange so that is what we finally had to do...purchase a different scanner that we really did not want OR pay $31.49 for this defective scanner. Never heard of such terrible customer service and will be sure and NEVER shop at Office Max again.

I have used Office Max due to convenience of locality, but after my experience tonight, I will drive the distance just to avoid giving this store any more of my business. I was attempting to exchange a netbook computer with a defective harddrive. The manager told me that it was not his problem, that I would have to deal with the company directly and just pushed the box towards me and flippantly said "sorry" as he walked off. No way will I ever use them again. I had purchased over $1000 worth of computer equipment from them and yet there was not one attempt at trying to help me with a defective product that they sold.

Don't bother buying the extended service plan, through a contractor called "Max Assurance". My daughter bought a lemon camera (a Nikon Coolpix S210...do NOT buy!) and the extended warranty. The camera has needed repair x 2, is obviously a lemon, but Max assurance says all we can do is keep having Nikon fix it til the first year is up. Then the Max Assurance person said "We won't refund your money then though, because this is now a pre-existing condition."

Be very careful in ordering furniture from these people..even if the in store people are pleasant and very nice.. be ware..
their so called cust personnel and delivery service?company they use.. are horrible.

We ordered a set of furniture and they gave it away to someone else..

We asked for us to be delivered what we paid for..and was told they can't do that..
when we ask for the credit back to our credit card..was again told they can not do that.

We left wondering if we should file fraud/criminal charges for theift against them or extactly what..

we are still waiting three days later for some 'trace they are putting in' for where they gave our purchase away to or what they done with it..

There was supposed to be some paid for receipt left with who they deleveried it to.. now how are we to do with that one???
Blatant lack of buisness sense/practice with out confirmation of who they are giving away other people's purchases to... !??!!!!!!

Very sad..but last time a company treated us this way..they went out of business bankrupt shortly there after..
so is this a RED FLAG they are in trouble..
or just very very sloppy business handling or even bad customer service.

If cust service is called and your offered to elevate the call to a supervisor .it isn't nice to pass the call to fellow call center person..and try to pass them off as management...."MISS Jessica"

Then to have that particular person.. spout rectoric at you about policies and procedures..when they have out right
done this type thing to someone is..
outrageous!!

So BEWARE all who deal with this particular company..and their practices..

we're still waiting to see if we do get our money back.

I ran out of business cards so I decided to go to the impress department at officemax. I was imediatly greeted by a young lady by the name of Mabel. I told her about ordering some more business cards. I handed her the business cards and she politly asked me if she could make some adjustments to make my card stand out. She read my mind and got to work. In a matter of minutes she transformed my plane card into a work of art. Im amazed by her enthusiasm...this young lady is extreemly talented. I am so pleased by her positive attitude and my business cards look unbelivable! I will be sending alot of my clients here!

I was greeted very pleasantly by Sherry, who then went out of her way to insure that my return was handled. Everything was done efficiently, smoothly, and cheerfully! Thanks so much!

I recently shopped at my local Office Max store (October 1, 2008), where the staff was very courteous and helful ... then when checking out, the service rep. informed me that Office Max card was refusing the purchase. I called my City Clerk (Yes we are a municipality)and explained the situation to her. She called various numbers and ended up with the credit services department, who explained to her that the city had a $9 overdue amount in the system and they would not allow a credit purchase intil that was paid. The city had just paid a bill in excess of $600 and has always paid their bills on time. This was obviously a minor error, but credit services was very rude about it and refused to help find a way for me to make my purchase. I was at the store, ready to purchase over $1300 of merchandise when the clerk called and told me of their refusal to help. Ironically, I was holding a card I had received in the mail for $10.00 off any purchase. I would also end up receiving rewards for more than that amount. What is wrong with this picture??? After wasting over two hours at the store, I returned to my office and called the credit card services department myself to try to work this out. The woman I spoke with was also unwilling to correct the problem and insisted that we send the $9 before any more purchases could be made. I was in need of a laptop computer at that time and could not wait for all the administrative process to take place. I told the credit service representative that I was very offended by her lack of willingness to correct this and although we had been shopping there regularly since the store opened, we would be taking our business elswhere. She didn't seemed to care. I Just thought you should know about this problem. With the current economic problem we are all facing, I would think that a business such as yours would be doing everything in their power to keep their customers.

Sincerly,

Bryan Vincent
