I tried to cancel a policy and the local agent won't take the cancellation. She has made us call the 1-800# for Allstate and go thru the phone tree and fax it in to them...even though this policy was a policy we had at her office. Cheri Towery Allstate Agency, Redmond Oregon is the Allstate agent. We're not impressed.

I cancelled an insurance policy. The company sent me a bill via the collections department. I was not told what the extra $25 was for nor will my agent return my calls. His name is Jim Rosenfield. If anyone knows this man, please have him call his customers. This is really poor customer service when you get a bill from collections and you can not find out why. There must be some hidden clauses in Allstate policies. I will monitor this for responses.

i Hsve had allstate insurance or 3 years on my renewal notice my insurance was going up $200.00 a year. only explanation I recieved was that all policys went up. But my daughter and son-n-laws policy didnt go up. I only drive 10 miles a week. I only have PLPD and I have no accidents or tickets.I think lying to your customers is unfair. and I think you should explain such an increase. extreamely dissatisfied customer who is looking for a new insurance to go with, you will lose this one.

This letter is in regards to the service that I've received from Allstate since switching my insurance from Geico in January, 2010. Since then, I have,

1) Had the policy cancelled by Allstate, with no notice given. Customer service could not tell me why.

2) Had the policy reinstated the next day by Allstate, with no notice given. Customer service could not tell me why.

3) As a result of the above screw ups, had the money I paid for the policy refunded, only to be billed again.

4) Received a renewal quote that increases my premium 30% over my original quote, in spite of having no claims, no accidents, no tickets, or anything that would justify such a huge increase.

5) Finally, I just received a notice that a discrepancy in prior addresses "may" have affected my premium, but no one at Allstate was able to tell me why or whether or not those rates were affected.

I've wasted more time dealing with Allstate customer service than anyone should, and as a result, intend on returning to Geico as soon as this policy expires.

The whole experience with Allstate makes me believe that the original quote was merely a bait and switch scheme used to get me to switch insurance companies.

May 15, 2010 a hot water pipe broke and ruined a brand new carpet in the hallway. June 7, 2010 after repairing the pipe and sheetrock in the hallway, the Allstate estimator stated he could not write an estimate for repairs because I did not leave the damagew open for 23 days. He did say he could write an estimate for replacing a small bit of carpet in the hallway. Unfortunately, it is custom carpet that can not be replaced. The inspector said he would give me the sale price minus wear and tare for the patch of carpet, even though it can not be replaced. 28 years of paying premiums means nothing to the claims department. To the Stat Insurance Commissioner, it means alot. They were able to force Allstate to replace the hallway carpet and the living rom and dining room carpet which are all one unit with the same quality carpet as the orginal. It pays to complian to their state regulator, they will do the right thing if you kick them in the shines!!!

I picked up allstate for auto and homeowners insurance eight months ago because I had been laid off from my previous job of seven years and was not able to afford my premiums from my old company. Last week we had a problem with our dishwasher, replaced it, but when we pulled up the floor to get the old dishwasher out we discovered that the dishwasher had been leaking under the floor and inside the walls. Everything was wet and a large colony of black mold had established its self in the subfloor and inside the drywall. I now have to gut my kitchen, scrub everything down, and replace everything including the bottom cabinets, subfloor, drywall, etc... The insurance company told me this morning (after playing phone tag for a few days)that because we did not catch the problem sooner, they decided not to cover it, even though there was no way we could have known, the floor we were walking on was dry, the leak went under the floor and behind the walls. There was no visible evedence that anything was going on untill we pulled the floor up. They wont even send someone out to look at it. Why do I pay my premium each month for coverage incase something like this happens and they cant even send someone to look at my kitchen!! I will be taking my business elsewhere for sure! I will also be writing letters to the BBB, the Allstate president, both of my state representitives, maybe even the Prsident and let him know whats going on. I will also be contacting my lawyer to see what he thinks. I will never reccomend allstate to anyone ever.

Allstate lowered my credit score, increased my rate due to their credit scoring, and would not, after repeated questions, explain why the change. I have contacted customer unservice four times asking why the change. Finally the customer unservice person said they wouldn't tell my why they made the change. I got the impression they BAIT and SWITCHED to get my business. Before I hired Allstate, I interviewed at least six separate firms and Allstate came back with the lowest price for comparable coverage. I've had Allstate Auto for 27 years. Their home owners insurance customer unservice was very disappointing. REMEMBER THE CUSTOMER HAS OPTIONS AND BUNDLING AUTO WITH HOME GETS BETTER RATES ON BOTH.

OH I SO AGREE WITH ALL OF THESE COMMENTS!! ALSTATE IS BULL CRAP!! I GOT FIRED FOR CALLING IN TO WORK AND IT WAS DUE TO MY CHILD BEING SICK! I HAVE NEVER EVER IN MY ENTIRE LIFE BEEN FIRED! BUT WHAT CAN I EXCEPTE IT WAS A CALL CENTER WORKING FOR CLAIMS!!!!!!!!

I have had the worst claim experience ever with allstate. My home was burgularized at the beginning of the month. My adjuster contacted me and gave me specific details about the following steps, which after she received my police report, property inventory, and any proof of ownership, would be pricing and issuance of my settlement. Instead, the company has launched an investigation into my personal business. This is extremely offensive and they subsequently cancelled my policy, which is even more offensive. I wish I had known about them before wasting my time or money.

What kind of company cancells customers insurance without notification? We have had Allstate coverage on our home, all our vehicles, our kids' vehicles, boat & RV over the last 30 years. We have never been late on a payment. Never have filed a home owners claim. We have been loyal customers. Allstate decides we live in a'fire' zone & cancells us without notifying. Leaving us uncovered & unaware. What total disregard your company had with this issue. We will be seeking legal advice, as this seems suspiciously illegal! We have lived in the same area for 16 years & now its' not insurable? I don't understand. This may not mean anything to your business or it might. I swear I will tell anyone that wants to hear about this & will steer any prospective clients in another direction. I'am so disgusted over how this was handled.

My husband and I have been with Allstate for over twenty two years, they managed out Auto, home owners and three life insurance policys. In that twenty two years we have had one claim for a windshield replacement. On a saturday night last month my husband and my 18 year old son were hit by a drunk driver. Everyone was fine but the cars were not. Our vehicle was an older car but is good condition and had no mechanical problems. I called the Allstate on Monday and was put in touch with the claims department, when I asked about a rental they told me they would have to do there on investigation to see who was at fault before they could approve a rental. (How much more proof do you need when the other driver was 3x the legal limit and was taken to jail) But if I wanted to speed the process up I could go pay the fee and pick up a copy of the police report and fax it to Allstate. My ?????why isn't my agent doing this( remember 22 years) On the second day we did get a rental but the next day Allstate called to make us an offer on our car that they considered totaled and said oh by the way now that we have made an offer you have one day to turn your rental car back in, "POLICY". I a pissed, first the offer wasn't enough to buy another car that was comperable, then they called the next day to say they had misfigured the quote and that it came in less but they would be nice and let us keep the first offer, How nice!!!!!
We told then know way, this accident wasn't our fault and we weren't paying for anything.
Two weeks later we have received one check and are waiting on a second check. I have also cancel all of my poicy's and will not recommend AllState or our agent to anyone.

I have never had innsurance with allstate and i never will. i was envolved in an acciednt with one of their customers a couple of days ago. The lady that hit me was really nice and was very sorry for rearending me. a day later i was contacted by allstate by some lady who was talking so fast i had to ask her to slow down 6 times. i told the lady that i was on the road and that i could right some numbers down that she kept ratling off but she would just have to be patient with me. i was rushed through the process of getting a contact name and number (the agent helping me was jimmy paris contact number is 18003668997 ex 3719) and then she told me that they would provide a rentle car for me as long as i had innsurance, a credit or debit card and a valid driving license. she told me as long as i have all of those the only thing i would pay for is the gas that i would use. i told the lady i had all of the above and she said she would have someone call me about a rentle. at this point im thinking maybe allstate isnt that bad i might switch to them. so i get up to enterprise to pick the car up. they told me i would have to pay an addittonal 14.99 per day for full coverage inn seeing that all i have is liabilty. i told the man to put it on their tab. he stated that they did not dicuse that when arragements were made. no problem i say let me just call the good people at allstate to let them know about the issue because i was not informed about this sudden change in plans. i speak with jimmy about the problem and he informed me in his exact words that it is not his duty to cover the fee his job is to pay for the rentle and thats it not a peeny more or less. i proceeded to tell him that i was informed differently and he began speaking over me and kept doing it through out the entire exchange. he was very short with me rude and extremly sarcastic. i asked for his mgrs name and number and he said hes not there he was the only guy there. i asked again for his mgrs information and he finally gave it to me. he then told me it wouldn't matter if i spoke with his supervisor because he will say the same thing. (i wanted his mgrs info so he could be informed about the rudness of his employee and not the misscommunication on the additonall fee) by now im livid and did not want to deal with him at all anymore on the phone. before i could tell him that i would call his boss tommorrow he hung up on me. the scary part about this whole deal is we just started this process and they havent even sent out anyone to look at my jeep yet. i am not looking forward to dealing with allstate nor will i ever recommend them to anyone and i havent even been a customer of theirs. if anyone for allstate reads this please contact me about this joker. he does not need to be working for you guys. all he had to do was try to work with me but he didnt even try at all he just wanted to tell me off. my email is [email protected]

Absolutely atrocious company. I have spent since Jul 09 trying to have Allstate stop billing me for Home Owners insurance that I moved to a more reputable carrier in Jul 09. I had notified the local agent, the 1-800 number, and finally the state call center at various time in the process and when I had not been placed on-hold, I got nothing but excuses and grief. I was even told today by the Virginia Allstate Call Center that even though I have had Home Owner’s Insurance with another company since July 09; should I not pay the bill the account will be turned over for collection. After talking to a supervisor I was told was the comment from the agent was not entirely accurate, rather I would be subject to collection actions. I changed in-part because of poor customer service, rates that were too high, and my rates included the replacement value of my home, personal property AND THE LAND VALUE! Didn’t think that if I had a fire or flood that the land (dirt) would need or even get replaced, neither did Allstate when I called them on it. They lost my car insurance business for just as crappy service there. Just a shame the commercials are the only good thing I have found with Allstate.

just keep on saying "operator" it will get you in 15 seconds!

The automated phone tree system Allstate uses is absurdly long-winded, and routinely asks you for information (policy number, full home phone number), sometimes multiple times, that it doesn't appear to use in any way, or forward on to the representatives, who have to ask you for the same information again. Menus are laid out in strange ways, and the usually reliable default of dialing 0 to get to an operator does NOT work.

There is, however, always a live call center available if you sit and listen to all the options.

They make extensive use of Indian call centers.

The last time I spoke with them, I mentioned their phone tree, and they said they'd received a large volume of complaints about it, and a complete overhaul of the phone system was in the works.

Allstate:

Curious, when you click on the link to email customer service you get a blank blue page. Perhaps this is just more of the same from Allstate--please see below...?

I recently had business with an Allstate franchise on North Main Street in Mooresville, NC. The overall lack of etiquette from the owner and his employees is remarkable--no introductions, no rising from their monitors to greet customers, no offer of a handshake, no eye contact in their preoccupation with their monitors, smart answers, incompetence, offices dominated with golfing paraphernalia, and basically an attitude of 'why don't you just get the heck out of here, but don't forget to drop off a check before you go'.

At this time, I discontinued a vehicle insurance policy at six months. For the privilege of doing this I was 'fined' $21.95 by Allstate and this office, which the impolite owner declared was a "legal" requirement. I followed this up with another insurance company that said this was patently false. Such charges are up to individual insurance companies. Many insurance companies have discontinued such usury--but not Allstate. So, the owner of this establishment lied and scarfed up yet another check toward a round a golf, which is apparently his priority.

What an out of tune company in such times. Times when insurance companies are among those businesses recognized for destroying the American economy and still its employees go about with the disassociated, center-of-the-universe, me-me-me attitude that has gotten us into this mess to begin with....

I know many people in this town. Allstate may be assured that I will do everything I can in these relationships to make sure that insurance needs are handled by companies other than Allstate that are known to show mannerly, fair treatment of their customers rather than imagining customers should be serving them....

Thanks for the honor of making my comments. Uh, is there another charge...?
