OfficeMax customer service reviews

Read the reviews below to see the experience other people have had when dealing with customer service from OfficeMax.

Since this merger a customer cannot order by phone or online. Your customer service people are not trained in your products, how to take an order, how to talk to or deal with people. Get someone that speaks English to answer your phones. Put out the correct phone numbers for the customer to make an order. Your company is now very unpleasant to try and deal with, let alone try to order from. Your changes are unproductive, unpleasant, and very frustrating. I will try to avoid your company in the future.

Hi my name is Marissa. I have a complaint following the monroeville office max. Last week I went into the store and saw a note that was written about me saying that I could not send pictures to the store in the quantity I had. So I sent over pictures today and was told no one could edit my pictures for me. I have had nothing but horrible experiences with Saran. On top of that Dixie makes excuses for everything wrong Saran does. My brother was killed and I get pictures of him printed for crafts I make in his memory. I can not believe I am being treated like this. I spent a lot of money with this company . So I tested what they said and had a friend send a email asking for pictures to be sized and it was done for them. I feel as though I am being discriminated against. My friend is a lawyer I will have them look into this if this is not handled properly. Thank you

I'm a new customer, just opened up am account with your company. I'm a little upset that your company didn't honor a special promotion for Microsoft Office. Your company forgot to ask me about microsoft office during the time of purchase for a computer. At that point your promotion says I can get it for free. Your company refused to honor the promotion when I brought it up. I'm dissapointed that your company you allow your employees not to honor promotions and it shows that you're a company with low standards. At this point I'm conserving closing my account with you and taking my business some where else. But, you have one great employee. His name is Marc Concepcion at your your santa clara office.

I called today to request that the Temple, Tx store order a large shipment of white construction paper for back to school supplies. I was told that the store does not order and that they receive supplies sent by corporate. Area schools have listed this item every year for several years. Each year no one local had it. If your store carried it, you would bring in customers who may buy more than white construction paper.

In August of 2014, I purchased a printer from Office Max. Four months later, it started displaying manufacture defaults. I contacted the store where I bought it from in May and explained that I lost my receipt, however I did have a receipt for something else I purchased that sameday, so I thought that would help. Contacted Customer Service and explained my dilemma. The agent took my information and said I should receive an email with further information on what to do next. It's now April 15, and I haven't heard from Anyone!

The currently have listings for gondola fixtures, pallet jacks, pallet racks, a safe, and stocking/order pulling ladder for sale.

However NO WHERE in their ad does it say that the purchaser has to have a million dollar General liability policy to purchase the safe, or pallet racks.

But their manager says this is the case after you waste your time, and money to travel to their location... Then on top of this he says these items must be paid for, and pick up has to be scheduled with the proof of million dollar general liability insurance..

This amounts to false advertising because no where in their advertising on Craigslist did they mention that the purchaser would be required to have million dollar general liability insurance to pick the items up, or that the items listed would not be available until an unknown date.

But to the managers credit, he did acknowledge that their used pallet racking was being sold for more than you could buy brand new pallet rack from warehouserack.com.(also located in San Antonio and actually listed right next to their posting in Craigslist)

However I was going to buy the OfficeMax pallet rack because it was closer to the house even though it was used and cost a little more than the new pallet rack from warehouserack.com

But in the end because of this deceptive listing practices of OfficeMax for their store fixtures, and their lack of understanding why they should put such information such as their insurance requirements of the buyer in the their postings for their store fixtures and only listing the address so the only way to know is to travel there with the intent of buying the fixtures only to find out that you would be required to have a million dollar insurance policy and pay or put a deposit for them to call at some future date to schedule for you to pick he item up.

Then when you show the posting, they say well it should be obvious to anybody wanting to buy store fixtures! They see no reason to put that in the posting. REALLY??????? How many people wanted to buy the pallet rack for garage shelving??????????? did ANY of them know, or think it would be obvious they would need a million dollar general liability policy?????????

I tell them this, and that I'm not happy about my waste of time and transportation to come all the way to their store only to find out the hidden details. Their response was total indifference, reiterating that it should be assumed that buying such items would require the general liability policy.

I redeemed all of my loyalty rewards on my way out on items that could be donated, because I want nothing to do with anything from OfficeMax after this incident.

They have lost a good customer over this, in the future I will be spending the little extra in transportation to go to the staples store instead. I know they are a little more expensive, and their loyalty program is not quite as good. BUT they do put all the information in their advertising, and I believe they would even if it were advertising for their used store fixtures.

After all I WAS willing to pay a little more to OfficeMax for their pallet racking, than new pallet racking fromuntil their listing became a whole waste of transportation, and time for everybody!!!!!!!!!

I went to the OfficeMax in San Antonio, TX at Bandera Rd. and Loop 1604 on March 2nd, 2015 at approximately 6:40 p.m.. I was AMAZED at the indifference shown by employees as customers waited in a line without someone at the usual cash register. Somehow the customers were just expected to "Know" to go to the other window where orders are usually picked-up. When I told the woman at that window about the situation she literally took no action to solve the situation. She was completely indifferent. I saw another employee leave out the front door after observing customers in the line without someone manning the cash register.

Being a regular at this store I know that the cash register at by the door is the one that is supposed to be used.

I have gone there for my ink cartridges and other supplies for the last time. I can understand some glitches in customer service - but indifference is completely inexcusable.

Today Feb. 6, 2015, i and my visited one of your locations in Toledo, Ohio 845 West Alexis. We went in to pick up an online order that we had placed, during our visit my wife wanted an additional item now at this point all the ordered items were paid for.

As we sought out to add 1 additional order at the person in which we believe to be a heavy set white Caucasian (female) who gave us a card which read Beth Draeger told i and my wife that completing the order depended on what type of mood she was in.

After i confronted her she fulfilled the order but this highly bad customer service and i know that this is not the image you want to send out for your customers. .....this matter was reported to consulting advisor Brad.

P.S. mind you i and my wife are of African-American descent. ...one would get the wrong impression and think this had turned Racial

I have not used my account since changing schools. The user name nor the password reset I ask for assigned by your company does not exist. I called to get pricing for durable binders (needed 520 each) and was told by 3 different representatives that I would be sent this information via email. I have not received such nor have I gotten a return call from the division representative. I am now searching elsewhere for my $2,300 purchase.

The WORST ever!!!!!! Do not shop or order from them. There is a reason they have low prices. You get what you pay for. I ordered a laptop that seemed to be a great deal. 1-3 day shipping, etc. Right after ordering I find out I could have gotten a better deal if I had use my American Express. I tried to change tender, they wouldn't let me. The order did not process yet and we are on day 3 already, the "customer service center" tells me this is MY mistake!!!!! It "should" ship today, but it is already noon and as far as I see it if they couldn't get it done by noon it isn't getting done at all.... Oh yeah, then they tell me it will take another 3 to 4 days to get to me. Thats terrific since I need it by a certain day for a gift so now I am going to end up returning this one and going out and spending the money on ANOTHER one. One thing I can GUARANTEE it will NOT be from OfficeMax. "Max" rip off, "Max" horrible service (or terrific lack of as this seems to be more what they are striving for). "Max" upset customer :( I wonder if they train their associates on the way to be "Max" inefficient!!!!!!!!

I have a Failed Epson 800 xp printer. Office Max sold it with a warrantee.Epson replaced it 3x.It still does not work.Epson says they will not provide a refund only that they will send a 4th machine.
Office Max says my $40. warrantee won't be available
until March of 2014.
Customer service rating for OFFICE MAX is 1 on a 5 scale. One being the lowest.

I was a customer in the store when the customer was trying to return the file boxes on Feb. 13,2013. Yes she had a receipt, but the receipt did not match the items being returned. The manager on duty tried several times to return the items with the receipt provided, but was unable too. To make a long story short, the customer got very angry and cussed at the Mgr. trying to make the refund. Another mgr. stepped in to take over. The customer continued to yell and cuss at him and threw some small plastic boxes at him. Told him to give her receipt back and that she was going to report him to the home office. She left in a huff cussing as she went. It made me feel bad that your employees have to endure such treatment. I shop Office Max 319 all the time and will continue to shop there.

Office Max in Elizabeth City, NC has the WORST customer service I have ever encountered in my life.
I went to return some items within the 30 days of purchase. I had my receipt which clearly showed what I was returning (4 of the same thing, different colors).
Because they did not have the bar codes on two of the items I was told I could only return TWO of them. I was also told there would be a 15% restocking fee for 4 file boxes!
I tried to resolve the issue for 30 minutes to no avail. The bar codes were on the shelf where the merchandise was and the employees
could not seem to figure out how to do the return! IT WAS ON THE RECEIPT!
I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN ANOTHER OFFICE MAX STORE!

My husband and I had a problem with our computer's monitor, which we had purchased at Store #319 in April of 2011. The monitor was still under warranty, so we took it to customer service. Arthur Mitchell, Jr. "Mitch" did a service check on the monitor and brought it back to life. Needless to say, we were thrilled. Mr. Mitchell was courteous and very helpful. We will return to this store again for our future needs, because of Mr. Mitchell. He is a super employee!!!

I wish to commend Staci, Lynn and Pat who work in the impress department of Office Max in East Peoria, Illinois. These individuals provided excellent customer service and outstanding printing services for a project involving over twenty five churches and organizations. I imposed on them twice a week over a two month time frame, and not once received any negative vives or impatient overtones. These three young ladies are an example of how a team works together in harmony and unity. Office Max is should consider them and extraordinary asset to the business.

Mr. Boyga Adeseye at the OfficeMax on 14 mile road in Farmington Hills is an outstanding representative of your company! He models excellence and deep, personal concern for every contact. Singlehandedly, he prioritized the production of 200 copies of my 132 page book. This is the 5th printing and his work was nothing short of flawless. (The job requires many special things and each of the other printings contained errors in coalating or printing.) He cared about my concern and worked on it only when he could devote full concentration. His expertise and professionalism are extraordinary! Today I came into the store - nearly 6 months later - and needed a very small Boyga for only a small order. He gave me the same, friendly, professional service for even a small order. Boyga cares about customers, cares about each job, and truly works to maintain the best image for the company in the public's eye. How great to watch EXCELLENCE in motion!

I would like to praise Aaron at the Willow Grove, PA office max. He was very kind and patient as he waited on my several times the past few days. He should be commended for his tireless effort day in and day out.

I would like to express my opinion about an employee in your Cottonwood Arizona store. Her name is Heather Littlejohn…I have spent 5 to 6 hours at a time in your copy center…copying texts…creating texts….for study groups…and use in Temples…and prayer groups…many different forms…for personal use…for others…and for fundraising…for the past few years…Needing help…frequently…as I have a brain injury…you can show me something but I may not remember it from one moment to the next…so I have that interaction with Heather, repeatedly…I am also in there hearing and watching her interaction with other customers…

What a GEM…What a TREASURE you have in Heather Littlejohn…for an employee…for a representative of your company…you could not have a brighter shining star…There can not be enough said for her ability to help….when you need help…She is never cranky….she smiles…she multi tasks…YAY…I’ll say that again…Heather can multitask…She is extremely patient…and generous in making you feel that no request…or blunder…is a problem…Those are reoccurring words you hear from Heather’s smiling face…all the time… “No problem.”….The thing is…you really feel that, with Heather.

Because I am bringing in texts that are considered sacred…I can’t leave them there…for others to do…and sometimes a Teacher has given me something that needs so be done right away…at the last minute…Heather is always understanding…and agreeable to at least try...I have had other employees bark at me…yes BARK at me…that they are too busy…I can understand no…but they throw their arms out showing me what they are in the middle of…They don’t have time to help me…I have heard them say this to other customers…too…in this same manner…they don’t even try....I am sure they are doing the best they can…and feel overwhelmed or under stress….but it comes out…AT…your customers…NEVER EVER…of all the times I have been in your Cottonwood Arizona store…have I heard Heather Littlejohn respond to any customer…or any request in this manner…

It is such a relief when I go through the doors and see Heather is there….I went in the other day…sending something via e-mail to be printed…Heather wasn’t there…they printed my request…even though how I had e-mailed it….my ineptness…my not understanding the proper way of sending for the best printing…Heather would have stopped…and waited…and told me the problem…this other employee printed them all out…They were pitiful images…Hello…who wants that…certainly not me…so in trying to shrink them…me thinking that might give better clarity…your employee didn’t size them to capture all of the image…so here again…handed prints to pay for that are worthless to me…Then I have an idea and…I say…oh would it be better to send them in large format…Your employee…hired to help others…gets a dawning look on their face… “Oh yeah that would always be better.” Again…I am sure they are doing the best they can…

I learned something, though…I am calling first…to see if Heather Littlejohn is working…before I do any business in your copy center…Heather Littlejohn needs a raise and some recognition from your head office…of course that is my opinion…but that is an opinion of someone who needs help when they go into your store…Which means…they need help from someone who KNOWS what they are doing…That would be Heather Littlejohn…she knows what she is doing…that what makes you want to do business in your establishment…Heather Littlejohn leaves you satisfied with the results…of your…or her efforts…and that is a smiling satisfied customer…

Sincerely,
Judy Jones Dalton

I odered ink from Office max on 8/28/12 and never got my delivery with their free shipping offer. Its now 9/14/12 and still no refund for ink. Their customer service is horrendous. Apparently when you email them or call them about not receiving anything they aren't submitting any claims until you get your bank involved in the dispute. They keep saying its going to be one more day-one more day-one more day to find out from the carrier on what happened to my order. What a great scheme to charge me for something they never delivered. The bbb should check them out.

How do I obtain the $5.00 coupon when you spend over $25.00? I am unable to reach the area to ask for the coupon.
I have several receipts that should have the $5.00 coupons sent to me. As I have not been able to contact the correct area at OfficeMax these have been applied to my account. If you check my account, you will see there are no coupons listed as being sent to me.
Thank you for your help.

What a joke their delivery process is! Do not ever order anything to be delivered from them. The people in the store ask when you would like it delivered, but don't tell you its only an estimate, it oculd be delivered anywhere between 1 and 3 days (dont take the day off when you think it will show up!). After waiting 4 days, we told them we did not want it, and asked for a refund. Here it is 9 days later, still waiting for a simple refund of $76 because they won't do anything until it comes back from the warehouse. They have my money and will not give it back! That I am paying the price for their lack of follow up with a 3rd party is bull----. NEVER AGAIN will I be fooled by an organization that does not give a rat's a-- about the people who pay the bills. oh and don't ever think that tehir managers will actually listen to yoru concerns, the are AWESOME at reading a script. I don't know how they go to work knowing they will treat people like crap- this has to happend 500 times a day.

Garner, NC

After today's shopping experience in Garner's Office Max, I am a confirmed Staples consumer. My intention was to buy a laser printer.
Does anyone work there? The young gentleman at the cashier's desk paged an associate to help me. After standing there for a very long time, while another employee busied himself with arranging boxes, I soon realized no one was going to come to the front to help me. Supposedly an associate was in the back, but I never saw anyone. I asked the cashier where another local Office Max was and he replied that there was one in Cary, but it had gone out of business. Hmmm, wonder why ???

OfficeMax is placing many positive ads and reviews all over on the internet for their own. Some OfficeMax employees paid or promoted on management level if they are following the customer’s review and turn some negative notes to positive by their own reviews just to make OfficeMax positive for easy customers. I know it by first hand, don’t be fooled.

Customer service is certainly a problem at the Office Max in Canton, Ohio. One person at register waiting on people in line, while 3 store employees are close by, chatting with one another and yet unavailable to help at the registers. Attitudes are a problem as well. It's hard to hunt someone down to ask questions and then once you do, they are not personable.
