My husband & I each paid $3 on Monday Aug. 19, 2013 to have our security freeze lifted for a month. Our credit union tried twice on Fri. Aug. 23, 2013 to get our credit info and were not able to get it. Why wasn't this freeze lifted by now? This is not good customer service if you ask us!

An accurate customer service phone number for Equifax as of 7/22/13 is

That said, I called twice and was unable to talk with a customer service representative either time. After 7+ and 6+ minutes respectively, I heard "press 1 to start the survey now." I paused on the first call and it was terminated; on the second call I took the survey and left feedback about being unable to talk with an Equifax representative.

For some reason, banks seem to prefer Equifax despite all the complaints and an less that average rating by consumers. Within a 2 week period, four banks requested my credit scores. Three received scores of 737 and one got 697. One of the 737's 3 days before the 697. The other 737's were one day and 7 days after the 697. I wrote Equifax and asked how there could be a 40 point variance in one day. They did not even give me the courtesy of responding.

I hate to be negative but I am totally shocked at how difficult it is to work with EQUIAX. I have received the credit report from the other agencies but EQIFAX says that I have to mail in more proof of who I am because they say my information is not what they have on hand. Please explain why/how do the other agencies have it right? Why is it impossible to reach anyone on the phone? Honestly, I have tried all the listed numbers(from Google) since you didn't even include a phone number on your letter(asking me for more infor.) to me. The horror stories I have just read about EQUIFAX are shocking and very unprofessional. Can't your agency do something about this irritating and chronic problem that can/will adversely affect someone's ability to buy a home, car, get employment, etc. Please help all of us who are in need of information we can only get from your agency. Also, please make sure your customer service reps are able to converse in English & be understood.
Thank you.

Wow I am now on the 7th person to talk to. I cannot believe that I went through 3 people who I could not understand at all. Asked to be transferred to the U.S. When calling from the U.S. should be connected with someone in the U.S. I have been transferred to many times. Why is this so difficult to do. I understand that you want to make a profit and going to another country is the way to do it. I suggest that you teach the people to speak perfect english otherwise they cannot work for you.

I just got of the phone with an account representative and she was very nice, courteous and helpful. I was leery after reading the comments section but it all turned out very well. The should all have a number to talk with a live person. The computer generated or web site cannot begin to expedite questions that might pop up. There was no number in any od the options via phone or web base but the live person took care of it without much hassle. I also admit was not in the best frame of mind when the person answered the phone but I was quickly disarmed by her pleasant and helpful attitude.

I am also SUFFERING financially(and emotionally) because Equifax,Experian& Transunion are NOT ACCOUNTABLE for their irresponsible actions.
I had filed for bankruptcy in 2006. It was NOT discharged (due to a slacker atty)
When I found out the hard way that it was DISMISSED , I had to file bankruptcy again in 2010. and that was discharged.
In 2012 my 3 credit reports all showed 2 chapter 7 bankruptcy DISCHARGES within a 3 year window which is ERRONEOUS and impossible to do.
I disputed the 2006 BK with all 3.
Equifax initially corrected it to a 'dismissal'
Trans' did the same.
Experian eventually did the same.
EQUIFAX REVERTED the 2006 BK report back to a DISCHARGE, WHY?
WE cannot purchase a home because of Equifax now.

All I want is to talk to a live representative. Cannot find anything on their website. They make asking a simple question seem so hard.
I've had to go through their process of getting a confirmation number just so I can get a telephone number.
this is not good customer service especially if I'm trying to fix things on my report.
I've had no success yet in fixing my problem!

This company is as backwards as it gets. I am the victim here, not the people who stole my identity. How on earth do they expect me to verify information that was reported to them incorrectly! This is the last straw! Small claims court it is. These people are costing me time and money in their explicit refusal to respond to my requests! I asked to speak to a manager 5 times before I was put on hold. Was kept on hold for 20 minutes! This is not acceptable!

spoke to a person who sounded like either they were on drugs or drunk..... wow

they are less than accomodating, I called to change personal information that was not true, they sent me an email telling me that it had been changed, I accessed my report and it was still there, they are unintelligent, unprofessional and just keep repeating things like robots, when I ask why things have not been changed. They do not know what the heck they are doing, they are nitwitts, you ask for a supervisor and they give you every excuse possible to not get you one.

This was an executive office number which when I called and explained what I need she proceeded to transfer me off onto someone else where I was put on hold forever. I am having to agree that I think Equifax gets a thrill out of putting people on hold since they really don't want to have to deal with you. Wondering if they get paid to do nothing.

I've spent over a month going back and forth sending in documents to verify that I am who I am in order to dispute faulty information on my credit report and no one seems to want to deal with it I get put on hold then transfered to another rep and have to start all over. After much frustration I ask for a manager and all of a sudden they see my info and then tell me it'll be a month to clear up. She also told me I would get a call back with a confirmation number which has yet to happen a week later. This is redivulous and holding up my home buying process. I've never dealt with more unhelpful sloppy customer service in my life.

I finally spoke with someone and this is the only number i got a live represenative without the automated system. There was a language barrier, representatives are not Americans.

I was considering Equifax then I read the reviews [thank god]. I've had a belly full of companies that treat their customers with talking heads that no one can understand. Thanks to the reviewers I saved myself many head-aches.

I called Equifax to get a fraud alert off my credit report. I got an agent that helped me. I had time understanding her but by the time I tried to answer 50 questions I finally got a confirmation saying it would be off my CR and I would get a verification within 30 days by email. We will see..How do they expect you to remember old addresses and old accounts?? But anyway it is suppose to be off. We will see. It only took me a year.

I just got through to an Equifax customer service agent via online chat using this link: https://help.equifax.com/app/chat/chat_launch

The hours are listed as
Monday - Friday: 08:00 AM - 12:00 AM EDT
Saturday - Sunday: Closed

You can give your phone number if you want the rep to call you back versus using the chat feature. I just used the internet chat feature, and I got my questions answered pretty quickly.

I spent the better part of a hour trying to get my account cancelled. After answering questions that I still haven't figured out the reason for, I am going to trust that my account will be cancelled,
This account was cancelled within one(1) week of the "FREE TRIAL" and I had received an e-mail to that effect, but still was charge for another month.
Trying to get through to speak to a human is worse than having teeth pulled.

If you do not have your conformation number, you will get asked a lot of questions to verify that you are the actual owner of the file. It is a way to make sure that they actually are looking at your file and not some one else's. Only you should know your credit card limits or how much you pay each month for your auto or mortgage loan. It can be a pain, but you would not want just any one to be able to call and have access to YOUR file just because the names and last four match. Look at it as a security measure for you. If you don't know your credit information, get out your statements so you can answer the questions. And if you have the confirmation number and need to call from work, write it down and put it in your wallet so you have it with you.

I called 800-203-7843 just to simply check status of my dispute since it had been over 30 days. Rep ask me the same questions over and over again. I spent my entire 15 break on the phone with a rep named Tracy who refused to give me her last name. Nothing was resolved. She told me my dispute will take no more than 30 days. After I told her it had been over 30 days she then started rumbling words and continued asking me for the name of the acct. I just told her to forget it and i will call back and hopefully get someone who know what they are doing. I started to think this was a scam for all of my info and had to ask the lady is this equifax. She never answered my question though so now I'm concerned

This company gives a phone # where you cannot talk to an agent. They tell you to purchase a report then you have an account #. I just wanted an address where to send my dispute forms to. After two Phone #'s where you cannot talk to anyone. I finally get that information. 1st wrong address: 2nd wrong address: 3rd Wrong address: and finally 4th address from a live person I recommend you have your primary website with send all dispute forms to which ever one of those is correct. I am hoping the live person I spoke to gave me the correct one. Sending personal info through the mail is dangerous and you require it.

You have by far the worst customer service!! 45 minutes later and no resolution on a simple "remove my credit freeze - that I placed" You are terrible.

I have been on the phone for over 30 minutes with 4 different clerks and ABSOLUTELY no one helped me. I am furious that I could not even understand them. And, 30 minutes of them hanging up, not speaking clearly on the phone, me having to have them repeat what they were saying. If this is representative of Equifax, you are a terrible business and are not serving the Americans who facilitate your business.
