Very poor service, so I got a rental car on the 8 of Sept. And they charged my car the same day for 600 then the next day 300 then up until the 14 200. I've been calling and calling and no one is picking up. I don't recommend renting from them you will loose more than you invested.

Very poor service, after flight ride of 2 hours waited for car for 3 hrs only one person at the counter.No more to go back to dollar service. If you have open for business we will appreciate a faster and valid wait time service

Picked up a rental car at the Tulsa Airport last night. The agent was incredibly rude, perhaps the rudest clerk I have ever encountered.

I called Dollar Customer Service to complain this morning, and was told that the phone agents do not accept complaints until rental cars have been returned. Really?
I was directed to the website to make my complaint. I filled out the complaint form on the website and hit Submit. Due to a "processing error" my email was not sent. I tried a second time, and gave up.

Apparently Dollar is not interested in hearing about its poor service.

The line to rent a car in Chicago is horrible. I have been in line over one hour and I'm still in the damn line. You will not get another dollar of mine I assure younill

I am extremely upset with my reservation I have with DOLLAR CAR RENTAL as were many others who waited for 1 hour or more in line. I am traveling with my terminally ill husband to see Dr Martin here in Louisville Kentucky and this is the worst car rental experience in my life. I actually advised the travel agency I have owned since 1982, not to book Dollar in the future for myself or clients if the service is this poor. I was quoted a rate and told to show agent ID for a 20% discount which I did but the agent did not know what to do. Looking at the bill she was going to charge for a prepaid full tank of gas which we know we will not use and she basically said no refund. She also said my full coverage California State Auto Assoc. Insurance would likely not cover down time in case of an accident and offered a $54 waiver insurance. The rental paper envelope was marked space N 22 which I confirmed with her but leaving the building in the rain ... no car in that space. We walked around with the keys trying to find the car which we found in L 22. We have another Dr appt at Stanford zimiversity on Wednesday and then I will be contacting Cotporate Office. Also the car had a large wad of hair, a comb and some other item in the door handle when trying to close the door. Absolutely unacceptable rental experience. Please pass my message to Corporate so they will be aware of the issue when I call. Gail Cesena.

Cheated about $80 last week on a rental out of Scottsdale, AZ. Rude and inconsiderate employee made critical errors on rental, overcharging me about $80. Not happy about this! Left e-mail message a day or two ago, NO response yet! I've rented from Dollar before, can't see myself doing it in the future, not with this kind of non-service.

I accidentally left my wallet in one of your rent a cars at the Reno Tahoe Airport and I called to retrieve it and I called from 2pm to 8 pm. and I never been treated so rudely in my life I had your current customer service hang up on me put me on hold for 20 minutes and ignored my calls and kept referring me to different people I will never use your service or recommended and if I find out someone use my wallet from your company I will sue

We made reservations for 5 day with a passenger van at the Denver Airport Dollar . Our bill was supposed to be 403.32. We gave them a free upgrade coupon..."oh, you don't need that...we are giving you the corporate rate. $115.00 and insurance $36.99, ect, ect, ect... NEVER did the agent say that was per day! Returning it on time and with a full tank of gas (the up-grade-a Suburban) and rushing to get the shuttle back to to the airport. Wow! what a nice vacation and rental place...What? The bill is $1,403.30! After calling the place the next morning because the receipt on the plane showed the $1,403.30. Spoke with a Linda, oh nothing I can do. I don't know why the agent didn't tell you it was per day, "I wasn't there". I said fire him for the bait and switch trick! She said I can't, but I'm sorry. So you can't do anything about this bill? No, I can't. I asked her so it's like here's your bill and ( no profanity) it? No reply..Never will do any business with Dollar again. And I suggest if you do, get everything in writing before. Not, oh, we will bill you later. They can't be trusted. Other places were more for 5 days, but not after the bait and switch job they pulled. Look for my review on social media. Dollar don't care, but if nobody else gets screwed that's a start. Sincerely, never a customer again! Steve

Dollar rent a car customer service is horrible!! I have been a repeat customer for the whole summer and the one time I need for Dollar rent a car to help me they didn't. I returned one of their cars and I forgot my stroller in the trunk. Not only did they not check the car but they transferred it to another Hertz location and I have been trying to contact them and Hertz all night and day and have submitted several lost and found notices but to no avail. I will never use Dollar again!

Do not rent from them. They will rip you off and will not take responsiblity. They pressured me to buy the insurance which cost more than renting the car. After I found out my credit card has insurance for rental cards they would not cancel they policy over the phone. I had to drive back to the rental location to cancel which is two hours away the reason I got a rental car from the airport. Please so not waste your time with them. I had friends warn me but I did not listen. Please do not pay the extra $10 with another company.

Dollar Rental gave us a defective car (bald tires) while we were in Aspen skiing. Almost got killed because of it. They will not give any refund and state that we are responsible for the defective car because we accepted it. I didn't realize that consumers had to check the condition of the car (outside dents and scratches) like oil level, brakes, tires etc. I will never rent from them again.

On December 21, 2013 I rented a van to travel to Arkansas for our family vacation. Our whole ordeal started about an hour into our trip, the battery light came on. I called Dollar Rent a Car customer service line to notify you of the situation. A representative instructed me to go to the nearest service center which was Richmond or Sterling, VA to switch cars. I informed him I wasn’t going to make it to either location they were too far away from where we were. We instead chose to take the option to take the van to a Wal-Mart mechanic service center to try and figure out what was going on. Wal-Mart checked the van and found out the battery needed re-charging, Wal-Mart said to keep driving and the alternator would charge the battery while driving. I would like to add that we had already bought a new battery to replace the old one but I was told by the Dollar Rent a Car representative to not buy the battery if it only needed re-charging, we had to then get a refund on the battery we had already bought.
We set off again on our trip, an hour into our drive all of a sudden all of the warning lights on the dash board came on i.e. Check engine, ABS light, Oil light. I have a picture of this on my cell phone if you would like for me to send it to you via email, I’ll be happy to. After the lights turned on the heater inside the van turned on heated the whole van very quickly. We took a quick exit to the nearest gas station and turned off the van because it was over heating. I then proceeded to turn the van back on and it wouldn’t start. I called Dollar Rent a Car customer service line again, I asked for another van to be delivered to where we were because the one we had was no good and we couldn’t go anywhere to pick one up.
The representative said let me see what we can do for you and we will call you back. Dollar Rent a Car never called me back, I had to call approximately 15-20 times to check the status of my replacement, (I have the call record if you need it) at this point I am very frustrated I had kids ranging from 1 -8 years of age sitting in a van with no heat in the middle of nowhere and it was going to get dark soon. At last Dollar Rent a Car called me back and said it would take 3-4 hours to deliver the van. The replacement van arrived at 11:00pm, this put our trip back 5 hours; this was a major inconvenience for me and my family. We finally made it to our destination.

Now, let me also add the return of my rental van was another ordeal, my reservation stated I had to return the van Friday December 27, 2013 at 10:30am. On December 27th my supervisor called me saying I had to return to work on Friday 12/27/13 from 6:00am- 2:00pm, I called Dollar Rent a Car Temple Hills, MD location and spoke with Alem Ghebreab the supervisor at that location. I informed her that I would be arriving at 3:00pm to return my rental. She then proceeded to tell me that she will have to charge me an extra day for the tardiness; I explained to her why I was returning the van late. She asked for my name and number and said, “Let me see what I can do for you, I will call you back.” Later in the day I received a call from Mill a service representative from the Temple Hills, MD location and informed me to go ahead and return the rental at 3:00pm that I would be fine. When I arrived at the Dollar Rent a Car location I wanted to speak to the supervisor Alem Ghebreab, but she had already left. I was talking to Mill and asked for a discount on my total monies due for the inconvenience we suffered when we were given a defected van for our travels, he informed me he would have to call Ms. Alem to see what she would do. Mill called her and Ms. Alem simply said that she wasn’t able to do anything for me, that she would not charge me the extra day for returning my rental at 3:00pm on December 27th. I feel I have been very mistreated and not cared for by Dollar Rent a Car. First by not checking the condition of the vehicle I was given, secondly by the extreme time frame we had to wait for our replacement vehicle, and lastly by Ms. Alem when she didn’t even consider or talk to me about some type of discount on my bill.

I would like to know what kind of discount you as the Main Office of Dollar Rent a Car can do for me for all the inconveniences I have suffered with my family during my family vacation. You can reach me via email or cell phone, information is at the beginning of this letter. I appreciate your time and consideration in this matter.

I had a similar experience. Car a size smaller than paid for plus a $300+ fee for goodness knows what as it only holds $40 max of gas. Also they want $11 per day for a second driver with an identical insurance record to my own. Can't see where the extra risk is and we're renting for 50 days. Have e-mailed all sorts of Herts and Dtag execs with no reply so can only advise renters to avoid Hertz, Thrifty and Dollar at all costs. Oh and don't bother with their Interstate toll season ticket. All the ones we have come across have cash payment facilities. Another scam to make money.

Dollar rent a car is CRAP.
Spent 2 hours trying to find the best deal, reserved a car 2 weeks in advance. Only to call the day before and find out that the Car listed or a car similar was Not what my email confirmation said, but was actually a whole car size smaller. I called the location...they referred me to Hertz, they wouldn't, said they couldnt help and that I needed to call Dollar rent a car, finally i got someone on yhe ohone and they said what i had reserved it what i should get. But where im pocking the car up from says different. Its bs.
Definitely cancelling my reservation and wont reserve a car with them ever again and will do my best to tell eberyone i kniw to.never ise them.

My reservation code and car confirmation number, kindly confirm whether or not the navigation system and child seat Toddler was include‎d in the total cost of 540.38 and if not what are the charges for both.

Stay away from Dollar!!! I reserved a car on line and received the following reservation.

I flew into Sky Harbor in Phoenix and proceeded to the rental car pavilion. I showed the clerk my reservation and he asked for a credit card. Since I do not have a credit card I provided my debit card. Big mistake. I was on a tight budget and in Phoenix for one day. When he clerk processed my bill, it ended up being $100.00. He explained that there was a $30 liability insurance fee and the charges quoted in my reservation were not correct, there were some additional fees that were not included with the reservation. After leaving the airport I got a frantic call from my wife telling me Dollar charged my card $350 which put our account in a negative. As I said I was on a tight budget and just going to be in Phoenix one day, I only had about $40 in cash with me and knew I was going to have to use that to put gas in the car. When I returned the car I asked them about the $350 charge. They told me it was a deposit and they will deduct the $100 bill from it and release the remainder by midnight. The following morning I checked my account and the $350 was still pending. I called dollar and was now told they will not release the deposit until my bank processes the bill, which can be 3-5 days. Dollar rental car is a rip-off with hidden charges, employees who don’t know what they are billing, employees that lie to customers, and a customer service that is not customer friendly. They nice until they get their hand in your pocket. I don’t often rent cars, and I'll bet my last $350 dollars that I will never return to this company,

This company added items we did not want and used the fact that we were in a hurry and put things on like insurance (we had our own) and amount of days (they added days which were not used.) We fought like everything but finally gave up and just decided we would let everyone know to expect a rip-off deal if they use Dollar. We had six cars rented for family and paid over $5,000. Their original quote was $1,975. We finally gave up trying to make somebody understand but it wasn't worth our health.

Dollar is horrible. We waited with 3 small kids for 2 hours for a car. There is no reason for this type of service. Please don't rent from Dollar EVER!!!!

On June 27, I made a booking (Confirmation Number) worth USD62.48 .



Today, July 1st, I received a modification by changing the value of this reserve to USD302.57

There was no attempt to justify this change, just now the value is USD302.57. This may not be the norm for this company.

I think Dollar Rent a Car should honor the original booking, the same way he expects his clients to do the same.

It is a trust that Dollar Rent a Car can not break, even if a small portion of their customers do not.

It started out 2 weeks ago when I needed to rent a vehicle for an emergency. I'm a dollar rewards member btw!!!!!
I went to the 22nd st location in manhattan and all they had were economy size cars being a tall large man it really wasn't Acommodating but I took it anyway due to circumstance! I drove out to JFK AIRPORT NYC later that day to hopefully switch to a larger size and they did however I was not extended the upgrade at no extra cost for my inconvenience. And was added another several dollars to my rental fee! I rented the car for 7 days and planned on extending my rental for another 7 days but within that week the back right tail light went out on the vehicle so I called customer service and they said bring it in and they would swap out the vehicle. And they did plus upgraded me to a jeep liberty that was in horrible driving condition barely any power steering and it felt like everytime I hit the gas there was a towel stuck in the wheel and axel. So once again I called roadside assistance and they said take it to another location to exchange. And again I went to JFK AIRPORT!!! He manager on duty was named Dan and helpful! So in total I have rented the vehicle for two weeks now. Going into the 3rd week I called before extending my rental , several people and managers to see if they would bring me down to my original rate considering I was going to extend my rental and for all the hassle I went thru. This is where I get upset and feel the lack of respect as a consumer!!!!!

I called one manager named Vaughn at 10 am Tuesday the 11th of may and I tell him my story and he says there's nothing he can do I must call the place of origin where I rented. He gave me the direct number. So I call and ask for manager Charles. He tells me he's busy call back in 10 min. I do and I get a non manager named Yolanda to whom I explain my problem and she says she will print out my agreement and give it to Charles and will call me back immediately !!!! The whole day goes by and I get no phone call. Finally I call back in the afternoon around 5 and Rita picks up , now mind you everyone now knows about this dilemma , she proceeds to say Charles had left for the day and Yolanda is at another location !!! Call back in 5 min!!!

I call back and a manager named Sean answers(this is when the pencil snaps) he proceeds to tell me oh I heard about you I don't know what's going on with your situation you'll have to call back tomorrow and then sarcastically LAUGHS AT ME and says your not going to get the rate you want anyway!!!!!
How could he say that yet tell me he doesn't know what's going on?????? Insulting my intelligence is just adding insult to injury!!!!!

Regardless of what I am or am not going to get you don't laugh at a customer that's been treated so poorly!!!!
He was rude and disrespectful and I feel that dollar has treated an very good customer with such a lack of respect that I have no choice but continue to take this matter all the way to the top!!!!!

Humiliated is not a strong enough word for how this so called valued customer feels!!!!!

Yesterday I left my iphone in the car when I returned it. Within the hour I called to give them information as to where to send it. All I was able to do was to leave information on a voice mail and they would get right back. Over 24 hours and still no word. I left information again but still no response...I'll give them another 24 hours then I'll call them "A bunch of thieves"

HORRIBLE! Do not rent from Dollar they add all kinds of extras to your rental and ask you sign thru a credit card prompter that is so small you cannot read the information. I tried to despute the charges and they refused to budge and were of no help in resolution. The terminal was so small it couldn't even handle the customers, people were forced to wait outside where there are no seats or covered area and everyone was waiting in the hot sun with planes flying directly over you! I was the worst experience of my life. And in addition to cleaning, and filling up the car, I was still charged and addt'l $10.00 for not producing a receipt! Never again!

Absolutely horrible. Rented for 10 days at Orlando airport.
Double charged for deposit, gave a hard time to reimburse. Was told by 4 different customer service members to speak with a manager who is on 24/7 at airport. Left an hr early only to find out manager Jason doesn't get in until 8 or 9 in morning. Tried calling for 2hrs but voicemail box is full and transfer to desk help only leads to a message that there's no one available.

First I'd like to point out about 6 months ago I rented a car at Palm Springs Ca.. This experiance was one of the best I've ever had when renting a car. I just got back from a vacation in San Diego and the experiance I had was terrible.Got to the airport and took us about 30 minutes to get a shuttle to the rental office there to see a long line and waited another 30 minutes to get the car.When returning the car a day early(they said we would get credit for one day) and with a full tank of gas (not telling me the gas was prepaid).When asked about getting credit for the gas they said they coult not do that. I feel I got ripped off the gas money of $54.45. Maybe I sould have looked at my receipt closer but when I was not informed of the pre paid amount.
