I bought an emachine D525 laptop for my son in 2009. The laptop has held up really good until last month when it crashed. The hard drive was gone. We installed a new hard drive but the Windows product key was worn on the back so I called emachines to see if they could help. OMG, got agent that did not speak well english. Was informed that if you request a backup disk within the 90 days you purchase any product they will send it to you free but after 90 days you have to purchase. Wish I had known that when I bought the laptop from BestBuy. eMachines agent stated that BestBuy should have told me that since there is no paper work with the laptop stating that when I purchased. So if this is true. Make sure that you request a back up disk. Agent said you did not need Microsoft Windos Product Key if I use the backup disk.
