We Purchased our home around march of 2003. January of 2008 I lost my job. I was forced to move from that city to find work about an hour and a half away. I eventually ended up moving to the town that my work was in. I admit that our pay history was not perfect but it was not horrible. I found someone that was interested in the house and I let them move in and rent until they could find a lender to buy the home for what was owed on it. Around October I started getting flack from US bank home mortgage. In November they started refusing payment. I called several times to make payments and also tried to pay them online but they had blocked my access to online payments. I called enough that I finally got someone that took a payment in December. I was unable to make any more payments due to US bank refusing payment however I continued to try to pay my payments. Around February of 2009 not only I but also my renters received a notice in the mail that the house was being foreclosed on for "nonpayment". Let me reiterate this statement US bank refused to take payment from me on this home yet they were foreclosing for non payment. I could not get anyone to speak with me over the phone about this matter so I sent in a letter and to my surprise I got a reply threw the mail. It contained a signed document that was in my mortgage contract that stated that it would be my primary residence. I read a little further into this and noticed that it also said due to certain circumstance like death divorce loss of employment etc that we could move out of the house. US bank knew that I had lost my job in fact I changed my address with them and told them that I had moved due to losing my job. Anyways the house was finally foreclosed on around may of 2009. I received no eviction notice yet when I went to check on the property I was unable to gain access because the Relator had put it under lock and key. Again I had not received any eviction notice. It was sold under Remax. A few months later I received a bill from the bank and from US Department of Rural Development stating that I owed 20k to them. This completely startled me. I looked at the amount that they sold the house for and if I am not mistaken it was for a little more than what I owed. They were billing me for repairs (that were never Made ) paint which was not done Realtor fees and closing costs of the new loan. We went by the house after it was in the process of being sold and nothing had been done to it. It was just as I left it other than the grass had been mowed. My taxes are now being kept because of this. I don't agree with the process that took place. I don't have the means to hire an attorney to fight this case but have talked to more than one person that said that this same thing happened to them with US bank and department of Rural Development. I think that somewhere there is something fishy going on. I feel like US bank has completely done something illegal and I am paying for it. I lost everything. I am trying to rebuild but it is so difficult because of the complete devastation to my credit report because of this. We Literally lost everything. I feel like Rural Development and US bank has the mentality of "Push em Down. Now kick them while there down"
