Geico has been the best by far, insurance company I have ever had. I have been with them for 15 years and have always had the BEST customer service of all my 30 years of having insurance. I may pay a little more than some of the other fly by night companies but the experiences I have had with Geico are worth it.

Am I the only one who has had positive experiences with Geico? I was side swiped the second week into a lease on an brand new Jetta by a woman who, coincidentally, was two weeks into her new lease on a honda. Geico's response was immediate. I chose to go to a Geico shop. They did crappy work so Geico allowed for me to go to another shop to have it fixed correctly. Shortly thereafter, I was rear ended in bumper to bumper traffic on the parkway and this pushed me into the car in front of me. Again, the only hold up in this case was the Allstate agent the guy who hit me was using. I even used the same shop they referred me to the second time because I liked the guys so much. The first accident they came and assessed my car at home and the second they came to my job (or vice versa, it's been awhile). They even came to my job when I had the complaint about the crappy work the first body shop did. I'm very happy with Geico over all and I'm sorry you all have had such terrible experiences.

I was with Geico for 46 years. In the past my auto insurance cost me less than my co-workers who had ins with other carriers. That's not true today. Now Geico is out for the money and those who have Geico ins pay more. I saved over $400.00 dollars by going with another company.

PS after answering the questions below none mention price. That's why I went somewhere else...Geico is too expensive when compared to other better co's.

The customer service is inadequate, and they give you the run around on getting your car fixed when their insured hits your car. I would not recommend this insurance company.

I am actually getting sick in tired of Geiko myself. I was just recently in a car accident where a driver hit me he was in the wrong he crossed over the double yellow lines trying to make a turn into a parking light and ran right into me. We both have Geiko and Geiko is trying to pull a fast one on me because they " say they have tried to contact this individual but can not reach him. I think they are lieing and they just want me to use my insurance and pay the deductable. They have not heard the last of me. I want my deductable and my rental money back. After this im switching to another company.

My car was struck in a parking lot by a Geico client 7/9/12. I had backed halfway out of a parking place when I noticed that a car that had already passed by had stopped and was backing up toward the rear of my car. I immediately stopped and leaned on the horn. Another driver noticed the situation and leaned on her horn as well, trying to attract the attention of the backing driver to no avail. The brake lights on the backing car never lit up, indicating the driver never saw me or hit her brakes. The Geico examiner (Johnathn Brown FAED) never tried to contact me or the witness after the first week to get a statement, even though names and numbers were furnished to him. I have called an left messages several times. The letter I got from Geico said it was my fault because I "failed to respect control of the isle (sic) when backing out of a parking place". Somebody explain how a person stopped dead still gets struck by somebody BACKING the wrong way in a parking lot is at fault. Geico couldn't have chosen a more appropriate figure than a lizard as its spokeperson.

I got an accident in NJ Turnpike and hospitalized by ambulance after it. Fortunately released from hospital and next day, I was searching for where my car is. It had been towed by Tuminos Towing company and they put my car to the body shop called Russel Autobody without my authorization. I was trying to move my car to the place I want to fix and arranged it with Geico tow dept. And waited whole day along to come, but Geico just canceled it without any notice. When I called, the reason from Geico was that they paid two towing already so if I want to tow, do it from my pocket. I've NEVER told the tow company to tow the car twice or NEVER tell the place to move the car. I was hospitalized. It was WRONG PAYMENT. Geico was deceived maybe or mistake. BUT, Geico didn't resolve this and just kept telling me move the car from my pocket. My adjuster was so rude and no basic manner to treat a customer. This is ridiculous. After making wrong payment, cast all responsibility to their client. They keep asking me that solve the problem for myself or tow by my own expense. Is it the GEICO way to tow a car and fix it after car accident? If the tow company moves a car to any place by its will without any authorization, customers can't move the car anymore under insurance policy they paid. So ridiculous and bad service. It has been 5 days and my car is still at the Russel Bodyshop so called, paying storage fee. Very bad. (One representative was nice but my adjuster and a man called me was very rude and no willingness to solve the problem. Ignore me.)

Jacquelyn O'shaughnessy handled my claim in automobile accident. She sent me a letter asking me to rate her service 10 but I have to rate her service -10. I reported the accident to her on June 26 in which a taxi driver ran the stop sign and hit the side of my car. Until July 9 I still did not hear anything from her. Whenever I called her she replied she called the Maya Insurance and left message but no one got back to her. I made one phone call to Maya myself and got the claim opened on the same day and in a week I received the settlement of $3525.48 plus 5 days' car rental. If I did not call myself I would still be waiting for the "response" which will never realize. Jacquelyn is hindering my case instead of helping solving my case. She is either ineffective or irresponsible. In anyway she is not servicing me at all. I made complaint to the claim department but the supervisor never got back to me. I want to do the evaluation on line and give Jacquelyn a -10 but program can't be opened. Please look into it if the evaluation program is disabled intentionally. Jacquelyn's examiner code is F409. Her phone number is 516-714-7688.

Well I will try this again. I have had vandalizm on 3 different occasions. The last being over the 4th which was my old car a 1990 Volvo was keyed and the paint in one spot was chipped down to the metal. I wanted to see if I had any thing in my insurance with Geico, that I have had for 19 years and never a claim. My husband died 3 years ago and I am living on a very strict budget, with no extra money to pay for repairs. I find that each of these police reports would be $1000.00. The one for the paint or last one Came out to $983. or 17.00 less than the deductible. Now with the other 2 the cost was $708.00 or $291.71 under that deductible. I could get my car fixed if I only had to pay the 1 deductible and Geico would pick up the difference. I have begged them to help me and get nothing for the lady that keeps saying thats the way we do things. I have tried to explain that when I pay my section 8 rent and utilities, I can't afford to have the paint fixed and this is my only way to getting to doctors and grocery store. I think I neglected to say I just had my 83 birthday and I guess I am feeling sorry. I sure miss my partner and he would be able to take care of this..Certainly seems that Geico only wants your money and has had mine for over 19 years. Any suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks

I go online to renew my motorcycle insurance, and their computer can't find my policy, so I call their 1-800 number and all I get is an endless recording that I suffered through for 5 minutes. Tried a second number and same thing. Impossible to find a human being at Geico, so guess what? Tomorrow morning I will buy my policies from someone else! And I think I'll step on geeckos from now on too.

A friend's car caught fire on a Saturday afternoon. My friend pulled into my driveway for obvious reasons because they were 200 feet from it when smoke started filling the passenger compartment. We immediately extinguished the fire. Being a hybrid vehicle, we left the car in the place where it was parked after the fire was put out, and Geico was called immediately. Being a Saturday afternoon, we did not expect much to be done until Monday. Well, the adjuster finally arrived on Thursday morning, and the car had remained in the exact location on my driveway the entire time. The adjuster spent 5 to 10 minutes examining the car and taking 3 or 4 photos, and then called in for towing the car to the nearest dealership -- something that we all knew on Saturday was inevitable and could have easily been done, at the very latest, on Monday. When my wife asked the adjuster why Geico took 5 days to arrive, the adjuster responded by asking her, "Who are you?" and I responded, "She is the homeowner". He then went on to dig a deeper hole for himself by trying to explain how grateful we should be that he arrived as "quickly" as he did. These and other responses by the adjuster, though, were simply not our problem. Never did anyone at Geico ask if access to our driveway or cars were hindered by their customer's car being parked in the way (and indeed it was!), and we purposely did not volunteer this information as a way to judge Geico's commitment and customer service. All in all Geico failed miserably, and we will continue to file their mailing fliers appropriately -- into the trash. So, if 5 days caused this much hassle, there is no way I am wasting 15 minutes of my time to save 60 to 80 dollars per year on my car insurance!

I was involoved in 10/2011 in a wreck that was NOT my fault. They stated their client was not at fault and he'd never even contacted them or given them a statement. The police issued them a report stating fault and still claimed their clients innocence. They finally told MY ins company that they had not even spoken with their insurer. This is a MESS!They didnt want to give a rental car. They didnt want to total mine. They didnt want to pay for missed wages. Now here it is JUNE 2012!!! 8 months later. NOTHING has been settled. The name of Geico's game is phone tag and see if you give up!!!!! I have never in my life had such problems from a company and I have told everyone I know about how dirty Geico is to both their customers and customers of other insurances. I do not know how they sleep at night! I hope they never have to use the insurance they are selling.....

!!!Horrible does not begin to describe our experience!!!
I have spent 3 days, trying to arrange a rental, have the check sent to the repair shop, and absolutely nothing has gone right!!!!
1. getting to real person is impossible, finally after trying to get my agent, to no avail (even when geico in house sent emails), she never called back, i left 5 messages one day, left messages with her boss the same horrific service...at last i get a human being who assures me everything is settled and again nothing the rental company has NO RECORD!!!!

My son was involved in a MVA the 10th of april which the police report clearly states was not his fault. After more than 7 tries to get someone to talk to, he finally got a person. Geico has refused to pay anything on his car, the other person who was at fault also had Geico. My son sayas that he was told that there was a "NEW LAW" in alabama that prevented them from paying for his damage. This is bull. Your company should be closed, your TV commericals are a joke and I will be telling everyone I know all about your company. I hope when you all have your accidents, that you are left high and dry. If I could sue you, I would, maybe I will look into that.

The vast majority of these negative comments seem to stem from a general lack of understanding insurance from the reviewer. Couple of tips:

1. If you are at fault in an accident, your rates WILL go up in almost all cases. This isn't specific to any one company.
2. You have to pay your bills. If you don't, your policy will be cancelled. Again, this isn't specific to one company.
3. You should not expect companies with millions of customers to call you if you are late on a payment. The manpower needed for that would skyrocket your premiums. Also, for every customer that would appreciate a call, an equal amount would complain of harrassment.
4. Rates go up just like everything else. Gas, groceries, electricity all go up. It's called inflation.

If you have realistic expectations, you're not dissatisfied as much. I've had insurance with Geico for years. Had multiple claims and have always gotten top notch service and fair settlements. Their price is hard to beat and their website is the best of any auto insurance company.

The customer associate that I spoke with was absolutely wonderful. He helped me file my claim/accident report quickly and effectively. He called me the next day to check and see how the process was going. He also contacted the other insurance company for me in order to start the repair process quicker. I am very impressed with their customer service, and that says a lot.

After 9 years of loyality I am given a renewal quote almost three times the one we have now because of an accident they had to pay for. I asked them if they knew why we have car insurance? To cover us if we do have an accident. Do not use this company. They do not care and the minute they have to pay on a claim they make it impossible for you to remain with them.

very frustrated to get in contac with a representative from the claims department.after leaving messages they call me 6 hours later or the next day or they transfer me to another agent which usually is out of couple of days.very dissapointed

Thank you to all. I got a low quote with Geico and was going to switch, but I will keep my current company! I have had 2 accidents (not my fault) and they have fixed car immediately, and after reading all of these horror stories, I will keep them and pay the extra $20 a month!

Same complaint- auto pay bills, loyal customer, not a single claim or ticket for two driver EVER, two car household, same middle-aged Honda and Chevy and yet! Rates go up every single time the policy is renewed.

And then- try to get personal service? Try to find a human being rather than an endless menu and hold time? Good luck- there's no one around to talk with you, not even a little lizard. They're all busy helping "other customers." HATE Geico.

I want you to know why I am not renewing my policy after years with Geico.
1) Your local office personnel are neither pleasant nor knowledgeable.
2) Although a friend is allowed monthly payments, I was told it wasn't available.
3) When we sold a car, trying to conserve, our rates only went down about $6.00/mo.
4) You attempted to get me to pay $15 for a defensive driving course that is free at the DMV, but you didn't tell me that.
5) I have never filed a claim and my car ages, (is worth less), but my rates are not adjusted even after I asked for a review.

I don't mind you making some money, but I am offended at your way of attempting it. Goodbye.

Very frustrade with geico sales...I trying for four weeks to receive a form to get insurance for my vehicle and still not getting any information after obtain a quote that was given to me since the firts time spoke to an agent.
I was recommended by a friend that has your insurance, but we did not know the problem to obtain the form. Every time we call Geico, is the same "stupid" answers and even that desconnected.

My car was also hit by a Geico customer. I filed a claim with them and the adjuster called and informed us their client and a third party saw my wife on her cell phone weaving through traffic creating the accident. He insisted we prove she was not on her cell phone. We provide that information by her phone records that the phone was never in use at the time of the accident indicating also that their client and so call third party lied about the phone been used. Now he's saying that my wife hit the first vehicle then his client. Even after showing his client lack of credibility he's refusing our claim.

Geico stoled money from my account, never sent my paperwork or a insurance card for my truck. I didn't even know I signed back up with them after 6 month was over. I didn't need insurance and they took my money and said thanks for the money. Merry Christmas
So if you are looking for insurance don't go with Geico they stoled from the poor to line their pockets with our money. They said we will give your money back if you have insurance with someone else. I DIDN'T NEED INSURANCE!!! Don't go with Geico, don't even look up or give information to their website because they might do the same to you.

My car has been hit by Geico customer and when I contacted Geico with a claim they refused to process the claim because they were unable to obtain sworn statement from their customer. So, I have a valid police report with the admission of guilt by the driver (Geico customer) and Geico refuses to take my claim on the grouds that they cannot get in touch with their customer to verify the police report.
