Dear Costco:

Re: Travis & Rolande DaCunza

I understand that some new membership salesmen and women will go to great lengths to make a sale.

Feeling Pressured

Lin quoted me a price of $55 for the basic membership and $110 for the executive membership after giving her a demonstration of the differences in each.

I said, ââ?¬Å?Unfortunately I cannot spend the $110 on a membership right now'".

At that point, Lin and another saleswoman showed up, and the two of them ganged up on me.

"I just felt so trapped by them and pressured, It was unbelievable."

My families house burned down and we lost everything I did not want to say this out loud in public and would have been very grateful if Lin showed professionalism and respected my decision to become a GoldStar Member. I completely understand that she was trying to up-sell me, but after the 4th time of saying no thank you, it became very irritating and almost brought me to tears in front of a huge line of customers.

I bought the $55 Gold Star Membership, despite how bad I wanted to walk out and never come back. I had a headache after going in circles with Lin and I eventually did sign the contract that I wanted. Even after Lin avoided my questions about the differences between business and personal memberships, TWICE.

Targeting the Elderly?

Lin, says that Costco GoldStar cards were specifically targeted the elderly and that I should not get that one. What?

I understand that in sales, companies usually reward this aggressive culture. I myself, am a international banker for Chase and have been through many sales classes with dozens of certificates. So, I know how to sell and dont appreciate Lin treating me like I did not rate just because I wanted the Gold Star Membership.

Costco is very lucky to have me as a member, I was extremely close to leaving and never coming back.

To resolve the problem, I would appreciate if Lin gets the sales training that she deserves and learns to respect and treat all members as if they are in the Executive club .

Sincerely,

Travis DaCunza
