I purchased a seiko wall clock in February 2020 and upon receipt placed a Duracell AA battery with an expiration date of March 2028 in it. About a week ago, it quit working; when I removed the battery, it was all wet and discolored. I replaced it with a new battery but the clock does not work. This clock cost me $47.00 plus and it is now worthless. What caused this battery to leak and destroy my clock? What can I do in the future so that this doesn't happen again?

unable to get a response on your automated voice system.
I have purchased 512 hearing aid batteries, put one in each =hearing aid at the same time and one of them inevitably goes dead before the other. One may last as long as six hours longer,
which is inconvenient and uncomfortable.

Why the inconsistency? Is this due to quality control?

I strongly urge all North American users of any battery type to stop using Duracell made batteries immediately. I have had to order every remote in my house, car "garage door openers", electric candles, noise cancelling head phones and the list is endless. I believe these batteries are now manufactured in China, and there is no telling what waste by-products are added to the batteries that leak out mostly on an immediate timeframe basis. For example, I placed two AA batteries (duracell no doubt) into a small candle and within hours I picked up the LED candle to find the top of my Pottery Barn night stand had the stain completely removed. In order to remove the stain, and return it to bare wood makes me wonder what is leaking into the children's mouth or cross contamination from oozing batteries into all kinds of private body parts internal and external devices. I will be filing a report with the EPA, there are millions of these cheaply made batteries coming from China. The Duracell of yesteryear is long gone folks. I will pay 8 times the cost to go to batteries (panasonic is great but pricey) that don't leak in my house, car, headset, toys, remotes, smoke detectors etc. I can't afford to replace the gear that this product destroys. Every single electronic piece is destroyed, thanks for going to China. Forget the 10 year warranty, and I can reassure you all, leadership at Duracell would never use these leaking batteries around there kids, pets, and especially on devices that may be inserted, place on or around the human body.. If Mattel had to recall 30 million toys because of lead in the toys paint, imagine what is stripping the stain off of the furniture pieces. Ummmmm carcinogenic I bet. Not using Duracell ever again.Tell your friends and neighbors, I will watch and see if Duracell takes down the ugly truth with this post.. Oh ya, forget calling the customer service line, they have bigger problems coming....

Duracell batteries are just very, very bad product now. Unable to contact customer service. All links go to a recording. Battery leaked in package, supposedly 10 year guarantee. They expire in 2023, another 5 years left but no help from Duracell.

September 18, 2018
I just opened two 12-packs of Duracell AAA batteries that had all burst and were leaking badly. Expiry date is Dec. 2024. The packages were labelled GUARANTEED 10 YEARS STORAGE'. I called the Duracell so-called Customer Service line a dozen times and got nothing but automated messages. No real human was available by pressing '˜0', and no instructions available regarding replacement under warranty. I returned the spoiled batteries to the store and was told my only option was to deal with Duracell. So, now I am screwed out of $40.00 worth of batteries. Duracell's guarantee isn't worth a small bucket of last week's dog dung. I have experience with no-name brands of batteries available at grocery and dollar stores. They perform just as good, don't leak, and cost half the price. The Duracell brand's performance and reliability has hit an all time low in the industry. Maybe they are being made in some place like North Korea?
