I am trying to cancel my service even though there is a 400 dollar cancel fee...had it over a year slower than dial up...call at least twice a week...they always say it is my router or my computer...funny how it still would not work even with it being hard wired....trying to cancel is a joke i have been on hold for over an hour and only getting music. DO NOT EVER GET THIS COMPANY YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF WITH DIAL UP!!!!

to all customers trying to quit hughes net and are having a horrable time trying to reach a human, the way to do this is to unplug your service completely. click or say technical support, a computer will run a program to check your problem and status. when computer can not read your modem it will send you directly to a human. a total time of 1min and 35 seconds instead of the wait times i have been reading on here. just be sure to completely unplug all service . hope this will help all of you out, because i do agree that this hughes net service is a pain in the rear, as well as not doing what they say they will. good luck

. this is the worst company i have ever dealt with in my life. you can't get any one on the phone unless they're in the Phillipines or India. I have been on the phone for 6 hours total 4 different times. All I get is cut off or music. It is a shame you can't get any service. I thought about contacting the FCC commission.

There must be someway to get service. Any suggestions?

This company is the worst i have only had it for 4 months and the service works and then stops it is so fustrating because i only use it for my online college classes and even at that some websites are like blocked. i called and it works for a day or two but then back to it sucking. you are not able to see videos or netflix because it will eat your limit for the day in less than an hour then you would have to pay more. Do not get this service it work for a while and then it wont. it is a 400 dollar early termination fee plus the mailing of the equipment. DO NOT GET IT THIS IS A REAL CUSTOMER AND I AM NOT KIDDING THE SERVICE SUCKS.

this is the worst serviec ever u cant get anyone on the phone that speaks english are u kidding me internet is always on off on off sometimes its off for a while cant connect to web server its so slow at 79 a month i think we all should report them to bbc the better bussiness bureu or i think i should copy all these complaints and mail them to hughes bastards

I thought thst I was the only one having problems with Hughesnet. Wow!
I don't see any reason to go through the list of spotty service and bad customer care and difficulties with billing past cancellation. Trust me, I've gone through it all and am still in the process.
Hughesnet appears to be like a recurring cancer that you cannot get rid of fast enough.
Just one thing - do not sign up with Hughesnet. It is the worst example of a bad company that I have ever encountered.

Hughesnet is so awful in every way!!! Its the worst service I have ever encountered in my 32 years...seriously. The d/l'ing is so slow I have everything I want downloaded from a guy in Cal who(I have never met)sends me because AMAZINGLY that is actually easier!

You have an allowance that they basically lie to you about, they make you thinks just "d/l's" but its actually any content...watch some youtube videos and watch your usage go down!!!! Once your usage is up you can pay 5$ to restore it for the day or you have internet that is equal to 56k dial up.

The customer service is unimaginable, its like they are druged up, brain dead people from india...Its very difficult to understand anyone I have talked to because of poor English skills. The first time I called was because I thought they actually had the speed's they claimed but Its not even close. After 2 hours of her reading some script she tells me its my computer that is slow, I asked her if she could tell me why all my computers could not d/l when isolated and she hung up on me.

The 2nd time I called was because my bill was 123$ and should be 90$. It took the guy 48 min of talking to him before I asked for his boss because he could not help. He would put me on hold over and over and repeat the same lines...I told him he was stalling and he said he was waiting to clear his browser history!!! I waited 3 more min and then asked he needed to defrag his HD too before we continue. Finally I got his boss on and she can't speak English well either and she just starts reading the same script! It took 1 hour to get a 12$ charge I never signedup for removed...I bet it will be there next month.

OOOHHH and BTW hughesnet does not support XBOX360 or games that latency would be an issue. forget playing any shooters,mmo's,sports,etc,etc...

89.99 (123.50 total after random fee's) a month!
ONLY 400$ to break the contract...if I uninstall all their(satellite) crap and ship it back to them, if not its 700$

ITS SO BAD, I WOULD PREFER 56K DIALUP or any other internet service available, if you are considering them, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!

DONT PICK HUGHESNET!!! I am trying to cancel my service (even knowing I will be charged early termination fee) and after 6 attempts being on hold for over an hour i hang up. I have still not been able to reach someone live!! service sucks, download speed sucks, installers dont have a clue of what they are doing

Hughes Net is by far THE worst company out there to do Internet business with! I can't log into my account to figure anything out or trouble shoot because you need a site ID however they are unclear on how to obtain such a number. The service sucks and I only have internet once in awhile. Not to mention you can never seem to talk to a real person about the problems you are having yet they are quick to take my payment out of my bank account every month!
SICK AND TIRED OIF PAYING FOR CRAP!!!!!

Whenever you cancel the service be sure that you still owe them money, because they will not send you a refund. They credit your account. I canceled service in October and I'm still getting statements from them saying I have a credit, what do they think I can do with a credit from their company that sucks.......
They are the worst company I have ever dealt with.

I have had Hughes net for at least 8 years. for the first five years we did not get a chance to even use the internet service because everytime we signed on the service claimed we surpassed the alloted time... We were never informed of the tokens that you can get for being a monthly customer. We also could not understand why we were out of time and very slow, when no one in the house even used the service at all in that week. Please keep in mind we had the 79.00 package all the while and never was late on a bill and remained a prompt paying customer for the entire 8 years. When we finally talked to someone from another company, in which Hughes net said we had to pay separately for. The company told us that after 5 years all we had to do was re program the incoming mail downloads . Hughes net couldn't have helped with that in 5 years ?!!! So now we will go forward to the last part of our contract. We had a problem with signal, called cust. ser. they went thru the whole 45 min. try this and that scenario which is always the same old routine... they then told me it ws the modem and charged me $120.00 for a new one . how can you tell that we need a modem over the phone? after getting the new one the service still did not work. called them and again did the whole 45 min. thing then scheduled a tech visit . We had to wait a whole month for the visit. Tech arrives on a bad rainy day and did not want to get wet, so he tries the modem claiming that the service was out at the time i was having problems, because hughes launched a new sattelite. I told the tech we had tried everything we could and he tells me " Well i have this little faerie in my pocket who can fix anything". ??? After he leaves: the internet stops working again! keep in mind he only spent about 10 mins. at my 1 month long awaited service call. I call Hughes again and they tell me someone cannot come for 3 weeks!! In the mean time they owe me for the sale of the moden m and approx. three months of service which when i requested my money they refused and wanted to credit my bill. I am still trying to get my money and the service is still in need of repair. This whole scenario has been going on since July or 2012 still no money. HOW CAN THIS BE ALLOWED?

Let me start by saying I NOW understand why the Hughes Internet service is so bad. I read about 50 of the complaints from subscribers and I agree totally. Here is my story:
I live out in the country in NC where we will never see AT&T or other internet service. About 4-5 months ago Hughes sent a brochure about Gorvenment Subsidized Internet that would be available through Huges. The price was $ 39.95 a month for 5 years with FREE installation. (right!) It sounded like a pretty good deal since I have been a loyal DISH customer for about 10 years. The day the installer showed up he was in a White Van, no name or sign whatsoever on the van. I had to have my mother in law stay at the house will he installed it. I have had my DISH satellite mounted on a deck rail post for 10 years, however this installer said it would not be good to put in on the deck, but it would be better to put it on a nice galvanized pole. By the time he finished the FREE installation ended up costing me about $ 100.00!!!!! I game home from work and I was furious. He drilled a hole through my hardwood floor and set the modem and router on top of it. The modem power cord was not long enough so he just let it hanging. (I have some really great pictures of this installation by the way) I contacted Hughes and Dish and they did send me $ 50.00 DIsh card, which was nice of them to do. NOW THE FUN STARTS. My son is going to college and has to have internet service. The Toshiba Laptop I bought worked fine until Xmas day when I tried to hook up the new Gateway Laptop with Windows 8 that I bought for my wife. We connected the new computer up and it worked for about 3 days and then all internet service was lost, even for the Toshiba my son had. (THis is when it really got fun!) Then I called Hughes Internet to get some resolution. I waited 30 minutes only to get a German speaking female who could not understand me and I could not understand her. We did go through the trouble shooting phase and she told me it was the Router, which was a CISCO. Now remember, this is the same router that was installed by HUGHES when the Hughes Dish an Hughes Modem was installed. Then she said I would have to call a number which was the number for CISCO!!!!!! Why should I be calling Cisco when everything was supplied and installed by HUGHES???? I did what I was asked an called Cisco. I waited 28 minutes and never got a human!!! I called again and did get a person. They went through the standard bull crap of trouble shooting and I got no resolution. Then the guy on the phone starts trying to sell me "extended warranty" crap for 6 months or 12 months!! I keep telling him that "I am renting all this from Hughes Net, and it all came together"!!!! I hung up frustrated again. I even went to Walmart and bought a new router to see if that would work and with no results. Then I call Gateway and I get another Indian. He was helpful but he had a really bad attitude. He led me through several steps and nothing ever would link up. After 36 minutes of trouble shooting over the phone with no results, he says this too me which just about put me over the edge......... " If you would like to purchase the Gateway Service plan we can guarantee that the problem will be fixed, blah blah blah blah!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY CRAP!!!! It is always about the stinking dollar!!! THis is all happening around Christmas while I am off work. My blood pressure is abosolutely boiling because I am so pissed off from the whole ordeal. Anyway, I do what I think is best and I return my wifes Christmas present, the new Gateway Laptop with Windows 8 back to Walmart, who graciously refunds me the money back for the computer and router. (This is another good part of this story) My son comes home from work, plugs in his Toshiba laptop, and it works fine!!!!!!! Holy Crap!!! You got to be kidding me!!!!!!!!!
So for the time being I am continuing to keep my Hughes Internet only because I have no other choice due to location. I am so disappointed with Dish because I think Hughes and Dish are one company. As I said before, I have never had any problems from DISH but my Huges Internet Service experience has disappointed me to my limit.
I work in sales for a living and the most important thing to remember is to always provide "GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE AFTER THE SELL!!!! That way they will always come back!! I am tired of typing so I will go now. Someone please offer internet service where I live!!!!!!!!!!!! RM

I am so glad that I am not the only one. Seems Huges net has some REAL problems. By the time I got any satisfaction I had already been reduced to a sniveling pile of frayed nerves. I have never in my life seen a company that cares so little for it's customers. I was on dial up for years(slooooow)before Huges net, but the company was local & wonderful. After just 4 months with Hughes, I think I prefer local wonderful slow to Hughes net any day.

This is the worst customer service in the world. Maybe if they would hire real Americans many which are unemployed we would get better service after all they took US. GOV. MONEY for the fair access program but pay Indians and give them jobs who I can't understand what they say and are rude and can not do their job right...SHAME ON YOU HUGHESNET. YOU 3RD WORLD INTERNET. 250MB A DAY WTF I PAY real money for real internet. how can you limit the Internet is this company from china I mean wtf.

The absolute worst!! No customer service. Tech support is a joke. I get a different answer every time I call those people. The internet is out more than it works, My advice - stay as far away from Hughes net as possible. Dial-up is faster.

the service is terrible. We have been with out the use of our internet for almost 60 days. I have called and talked to the India service center and received 5 different reference numbers no one has called me to set up an appointment to correct the system problem. I have been told the problem was being referred to upper management without any action taken.

I have just wasted 1.5 hours on the phone being transferred around to non caring, individuals that lack accountability. I just had my Gen 4 install cancelled for the morning with 10 hours notice and a day of vacation wasted with no explanation. Customer service didn't care that I was going to have to take a second day of vacation to accommodate the installers, they suggested I call an see if I could work tomorrow after all! Go figure....i am looking to change my service elsewhere!

I have just spent 15 minutes on my cell phone, wasting valuable minutes, waiting for a service rep to answer. All I want to do is pay my bill. It is so complicated to pay my bill online or change a card number, that I quit trying. The service is really bad. Between the error messages and the effort it takes to get online; I intend to change to another company as soon as I can. It does no good to complain.

after 1 year of service my internet has slowed to the speed of dial up, but Hughes wants $200 to get the new speed of gen x. We need to find out who to contact to make this company provide what we were promised and what we pay for monthly. The class action lawsuit against hughes ended in a slap on their wrist. I am going to contact my state representatives in Missouri where I live. I may also try contacting the FCC and states attorney. I suggest everyone else do the same. Every one needs to call Hughes daily until we get service better that dial up. Ask for an upper management person. I worked in a call center for another internet company and I learned " the squeaky wheel gets the grease." The tech at my house today agreed hughes service stinks. He said as soon as gen -x was released, the service issue calls went thru the roof. I guess if hughes makes our service bad enough, they figure we will pay the $200 equipment fee and additional monthly fee for service. I'm stuck with hughes or I'd take my business elsewhere

I've been a customer only since Oct. 18th and I find this company the most frustrating that I've ever experienced. I've called numberous times today and each representative goes thru the whole routine of their little case number bit and attempts to transfer me to the correct office and then the line goes dead and I have to start the whole process over yet again. The most in effecient group of people I've encountered ever. What ever happend to simply making a direct transfer within a co-operation. This is only the latest of my trials and tribulations with this company, and I'm only here because my options are limited due to my remote location and the availability of choices.

I have had Hughesnet since 2005 and have had constant problems that entire time. There are no other providers in my area except dial-up and because I try to run an internet business, that just won't work. I used to have the 7000 system but my service was constantly going out and speeds were VERY slow (averaging about 45-75kps). I was told that I must upgrade to the professional system (the 9000) and their most expensive plan, which I did. By late last year my service was so poor that it was only working 1/3 of the time and my system did not operate at all during the "free download period" of 1AM to 6AM CST. Because of this and the quantity of my downloads (I have to upload and download Massive sites on a regular basis) I was FAP'd 7-9 times a month. I was paying approx. $130. a month for the service and then an additional $70.00 or so in restore tokens and for many months my bill did not fall below $200.00 a month. On top of that I had to buy a hotspot and pay for that so I could drive down the road and use the internet when I absolutely had to be online. That cost me an additional $100.00 a month. So for $300.00 a month I Barely had service. In April, 2012 I was told that the only recourse I had was to upgrade to the Gen4 system which I finally pre-ordered on May 9th. I was told at that time I would not have to pay for it because they could not get my current service to work. Needless to say, at the end on September they finally installed my Gen 4 and I had to pay the installer approx. $130.00 to get it installed. They would not check or move the cabling (which I suspect is my problem since they've replaced everything else) unless I paid an extra $140.00 even though I was installing a new system. Now I have been down, except for about 1/2 hour a day, since Nov 2nd. I began calling on Nov 2 and got recordings that they were so busy that they could not take calls. I called repeatedly from Nov 2nd until About Nov 15th and finally got tier 4 tech support in Texas. Now it is Nov 29th and I was supposed to have a tech come out today from Intersource (another horrible company) and they called me yesterday saying that I would have to pay for the service call. I was already required by Hughesnet to pay $200.00 for the installation (after the $130.00 to the installer)and $100.00 for service for Nov even though I didn't have service all month just so I could get that 1/2 hour a day online. This is the period of time where my retail effort should make about 1/2 of my entire years money online but I have stacks of items here that I have been unable to list online so this month alone without service has possibly cost me THOUSANDS. Needless to say, I spent all day yesterday leaving messages at the tier 4 tech support line and they never called me back. I talked with a manager last night who assured me that they had updated the service call and that someone would be here this morning, I would not have to pay, and he would call me at 11AM this morning. It is now 12:15 pm and I have had no technician, I got a call from Intersource to reschedule the call AFTER I committed to pay for it and Mark, the tier 4 supervisor has NOT called me back. I have called them several times and get a recording that I cannot even leave a message at this time due to call volume. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO???

This network sucks!!! If you can get on, it takes about 5 to 10 min. to get on. Then I can't send any E-Mails, play any games on line. I called to cancel and when then transfor your call, the system hangs up on you. I've had this network only about 2 months. I'm done. Dave, Coloma, WI
