I need to rent a car, one-way, from Nashville, TN to Springfield, IL, picking up the car at 8AM Saturday the 30th of August. The Springfield, IL office closes at 4PM. I was told we can drop the car off after 4PM, it will be checked in Sunday when they open at 10AM. However, they said they would charge an additional day. So in effect, unless I make the trip in under 8 hours, I pay for 2 days.

Not good. Please call me,
Stephen Solorio

Hertz is a joke! I prepaid a rental & when we got to airport they would not let us just add a credit card. Our rate was $90 higher! I called 800# & was told I would be issued only the prepaid price. A month later I was charged & they are referring me to website to get refund I was promised. I will NEVER use hertz again!

I want to share an experience that I feel in this day and age of World Class service was totally unacceptable. I worked online and selected a vehicle that would fit my needs and fuel economy. When I picked up the vehicle at the Hertz location in Vestal, NY it was an SUV that got 23.5 MPG. the most frustrating part of rental was the condition the vehicle was in. I personally didn't think Herz would rent a vehicle in the condition that I experienced. The vehicle was not clean, the windshield was full of bugs, the interior was filthy, it smelled of cigarette smoke, the cigarette lighter didn't work so I had to use the one in the console and had to switch back and forth with my cell phone charger, the front tires were just legal (Which I showed the person when I returned the vehicle) the best mileage was 23.5 MPG and the vehicle had major squeaks in the front end and rear hatch when going over bumps. I really feel Hertz need to check their rental procedures so another customer doesn't experience what I did. I understand not every car will be in excellent condition, but there should be some standards so you don't experience what I went through. My last point, there was an odor in the car and I just thought it was normal given the condition the car was in, but when I returned the vehicle there was an old McDonald's bag under the front seat and that is where the smell was coming from. I received the vehicle in Vestal, NY and my representative was Richard Bocek and I returned the vehicle to 6615 D Two Notch Road, Columbia, SC and Jonathan Hvsky was the representative and I showed Jonathan the items I mentioned in this review. I thank you in advance for hearing my complaint. I would appreciate a follow up to this review so I know someone will take action. Respectfully, Sebastian Fiacco, Jr

Landed at San Fran airport me arruved at hertz desk at 11am. There must have been 100 customers waiting in line in front of us. Twelve plus computers available to check in people but only four workers manning them. It took 2 as a half hours to get a car. Called customer service who said they would try to send out more employees. Never seen such a disaster. The worst experience ever. Will never rent from hertz again. Amazing that they run a business this way

Dangerous cars.

i'm Hertz gold member and i'm frequently renting cars in SFO international airport.
every time I'm renting a car I'm getting a dangerous car which is seriously unmaintained.
once it was broken engine old which was open during the ride, second was almost free wheel which almost fall out from the car, the latest is Nissan Altime with the right front wheel shakes violently.

im loosing money each time i need to go and replace these cars, i would defeinetly not going to continue using hertz anymore and going to find an alternative

I booked a mid size car to be picked up in Kona,Hawaii . I rented it for 11 days. After filling out paper work I had to wait sometime for them to bring me a car. The presented me with a very small Nissan not sure of model but comparable to a Chevy Volt. Which by the way I had rented recently for a two day trip to Virginia. And it was ranked as a compact? When I asked them if they were kidding they just gave me a strange look. My booking said it would be a Camry or comparable. I research the ranking of this car by the automobile industry it is rated as a small car.. I payed 31.00 a day don't feel it was a fair price. They may have seen me by myself but I was responsible for a 5 year old and a 3 year old they require seats. In the back seat it was barely achievable.
Further more I am a member of USET, and USDF. We have a very large membership and we travel a lot that requires a great number of rental cars I will be notifying them of my unsatisfactory experience..

I was treated very rudely borderline racially discriminating by a Hertz employee at hertz in glendake az by the name of Aya Sanipe. When I got there I explained that my bank had made a mistake and cancelled my debit card so I had my old one, cash and a temporary card she said thats fine after doing all the paperwork she said she needed to verify with my bank that I was telling the truht. Well she not only talked to the bank and they verified my account & story she said she had to think about it after witnessing the way she mistreated every spanish speaking person one asked to speake to a hertz employee that spoke spanish she said that hertz did not have no spanish speaking employees in the area , and then she started treating them like retards saying that they had to call such and such number then se remembers that the area manager spoke spanish and that he would be the only one to talk to them when he called back. I was still waiting for her to finish my rental I was speaking in spanish to a couple that had been in a car accidente and that they wher gettig screwed by the insurance company. Well after about more than an hour she says she has to ask her mgr and this after all of the last customers where sent off by her with out the courtesy she was giving the english speaking people, I asked for her mgr name and hers she asked why and I said that she was not right trating people that way she said she had to lock the door company policy I was not even all the way out when she pushed the door closed on me. I could understand if I was the only one that felt and was treared unfairly by her but she did not try to helo us and didnt have time I am a repeate customer and I have been renting from firefly, thrifty and hertz and I have not complained but this is awful and she ruined my familys holiday by her actiones I am complaining to see if its your companys policy to treat people by their language and being hispanic I still canot belive that in this day and age a big corporation like hertzs allows their employees to be racist

I am trying to leave a note of commendation for a customer service representative who was particularly helpful to me - and should be recognized for her service representing Hertz. I am a Platinum Hertz member (through AMEX Black card) - my Hertz number is 28189904. The customer service representative who was particularly helpful to me is Christina R from Oklahoma City. Although through a chat session, her demeanor, the attitude she displayed through her responses and her knowledge of Hertz programs was certainly commendable. I hope the fact that I spent 30 minutes navigating through the web site to find a way to leave a commendation for Christina R tells you how pleased I was with her responsiveness and her great representation of Hertz. Please make sure that she knows how much I appreciated her help! Thanks, Ronald Cornelison.

I paid for car rental in cash. Then out of nowhere my debit card was charged another 127 dollars, without any authorization from me. Why would I have to authorize when I was just paid in cash at the counter. Long story short, somehow someway I was charged for a stranger's rental. How that could possibly happen I don't know but continuing on with the story. I take my receipt that I received from the counter, and my online transaction receipt to the Hertz rental desk at the JW Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Desert, and I can't tell you how lousy the customer service was. I've been waiting over three weeks now for a so-called manager's approval for the return of my funds. Now here's the real kicker after discovering their mistake three weeks later they send me an envelope with $50 cash inside. No check no receipt no anything just my name on the outside of the envelope and a $50 bill folded up inside.I wonder how their accounting department keeps track of such things. I cannot believe that an international company would refund someone without any receipt of transaction or anything. But the kicker is it, like I said it was $127 owed to me so they were about 77 dollars short.h Once again I return to the Hertz rental to show my receipt, and once again they give me the spill about a manager's approval for the rest of my money. So I'm wondering how can one day you slide $50 in cash to me in an envelope and then the very next day you tell me that I have to wait 2 weeks for the rest of the money to be deposited into my account. You may do as you please, but personally I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever rent from Hertz car rental at JW Marriott Palm Desert or any other Hertz company in the world again. Truly terrible service, I see why I don't see the Hertz commercials as much as I used to they have really fallen by the wayside. This is not a rant or a conspiracy theory its just true.

Had reservation to pick up SUV at 8:00am Downtown location, St. Louis MO. ..of course we get there and no SUV there. Mind you these reservations were made a week ahead!! Got every excuse in the book as to why a SUV was not there. Guy at front desk said we "YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO"!! WOW REALLY!!! . it's 9:00am, and still NO SUV!! Called the 1-800 number and guy who answered really was not interested in what I had to say so of course he transferred me. The young lady who I was transferred to was very RUDE.....and somehow the called got LOST!!! HERTZ SUCKS BIG TIME!! WILL NEVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN, AND WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW.......DON'T!!!

I RENTED A VEHICLE FROM HERTZ RENTAL. I REURNED THE CA FULL OF AS AND UNDER THE CONDITIONS REQUIRED FOR A FULL RELEASE OF THE REMAINDER OF THE
$200 DEPOSIT. I WAS TOLD AFTER I RTURNED HOME & CHECKED MY ACCOUNT that the remainder of the $200 was used to pay for a tank of gas @$9.70 per gallon.
The attendant who returned the vehicle verified that the tank was full and that no additional charges were due. That the remainder of the $200 would be returned to my account by midnight of the same day. This never happened. They told me that my receipt etc verified that the tank was full. However within the week that they had withheld my funds it cause a domino effect of nsf charges. By returning the remainder of the $200-indirectly admitting guilt they refuse to replace 3 nsf charger. They still refuse to replace them. Hertz has some extremely f---ed up employees. They are rude and reckless. If there is any way or them to be held accountable--I am going to seek it out. In the meantime--I will never rent from them again.

I rented a car from a Local Addition Hertz on Bell Road in Phoenix. I received great service from Chuck and Jamie.

My husband and I rented a car from the Hertz counter in Phoenix at the airport location. It was 7 p.m. -- not an extremely late arrival. The Hertz counter had four people working behind the counter, and six or seven kiosks. (Only one kiosk was working, however.) My husband stood in the line and I went to a kiosk to try to check in and get our car.
The kiosk NEVER connected to a Hertz assistant even after an HOUR wait (a continuous loop on the phone screen said my wait time was 4 minutes). My husband inched his way through the line, and after an hour, and FINALLY saw an opening with a Hertz counter staff person. We walked up to the opening without being called, as EVERYONE had done before us, and a snippy counter worker "helping" someone else said loudly, "get back in line; we will call your name."
NO ONE had waited to be called, and in no way would she begin to know our name. We returned to the front of the line, rolling our eyes with everyone else waiting. It was very ugly on Hertz's part, and they should be ashamed of this employee. I will be contacting Hertz next, but beware ... be prepared to wait an hour for your car, do not expect the kiosks to work, AND be treated rudely by an employee if you rent a car from the Phoenix Airport location.

I recently rented from Hertz at BWI-Thurgood Marshall Airport from 4-16-14 to 4-23-14. Upon returning the car to the rental terminal I left my cell phone in the drink holder in the center console. Less than 2 minutes later, I realized I didn't have my phone and I ran to the car. The attendant that had just checked me in pointed to another attendant and directed me to speak to her about my phone. The car had just been driven up the ramp to the car wash as I approached. I told her my phone was in the car and she delayed by asking me multiple questions as she was holding my receipt that had the answers to her questions. Then she drove another car up the ramp and quickly returned and said there is not phone in that car. I asked her if she spoke to the person that drove the car because they had my phone and her reply was, I said there ain't no phone in that car! I had no time to argue because I had to catch my flight. I just purchased that I-phone 5S 4 months prior but the most important issue was my personal and business contacts and emails were now compromised. I had to spend $750 for a new phone, $45 for new case and $200 for Life LOCK identity security as a result of this theft. There is no mistaking the phone was stolen because I had just hung up the phone from speaking to my mother on the phone prior to pulling into the rental car return area. Hertz hires Dishonest Thieves. I will tell every person I know to not use Hertz!!!

Good morning, I'm disappointed in your rental service. When i placed my reservation for 5.2.14 I told bryant that i needed the van for8:00 am so i could be on time for a appointment i had in another city.each time i talked to a rep it was a different story. Now their telling me it will be noon today. My whole schedule is off.
They said they don't have cars because of a conference, my reservation was made a week in advance.
What are you going ti do to fix this problem. I'm sitting and waiting. I need my van now.

One hour and still waiting along with dozens upon dozens of others for a car I had a reservation for at the Atlanta airport. Unacceptable.

Our car has a smell of marijuana....getting worse as the car heats up in the sun. We went through the entire car and found nothing.
I am certain the smoke is in the seats.

We reserved a car with Hertz in Panama City, FL. The reservation was paid for! When went to get our car the rental agent laughed and said he was dreading our arrival because he gave our car away and had no other cars left to rent. We were forced to get a car from Thrifty, a much smaller car and it cost us an extra $80.

To the wonderful people at Hertz, This is my second letter,

I am about to tell you a story of a car rental from Fort Lauderdale that will even get you upset. In February the wife and went on a cruise, upon returning I had a Hertz Impala reserved for three weeks. We were instructed to do was wait for the Hertz van when we get in to Fort Lauderdale pier and we will be picked up and delivered to the office. After two and one half hours and six phone calls to the office that we were hung up on, I finally reach a very nasty man, who screamed that he is on the way and hung up, number seven. Finally we were taken to the office on top of a parking garage in Fort Lauderdale. After waiting in line for over one hour I was asked what are you here for? I then told them I was to pick a car they laughed and said you must go down to the first floor first and sign in. Why wasn't I told this instead of standing around.

At this point I have to tell you I am a disabled Vet with some pretty bad legs, I have to walk with a cane and standing is the worst thing I can do, also ramps, hills are almost impossible for me. ( parking ramps are not level )

After returning to the top floor I was given a 2013 Chevrolet Impala to drive, upon looking the car over I noticed a lot of dents and scrapes that I wanted noted, I asked one of the attendants if he would please write them up as I didn't want to be charged for them. He said not to worry they are not bad enough to worry about as he walked away. I then chased down a man in street clothes and asked if he worked there and would he write up the dings and scratches. He said he would be back in a moment and much to our surprise he returned and wrote up the damage.

Now we are finally on our way, after a few miles I noticed that all we had for fuel was less than a half tank. So I filled up the tank and proceeded to Orlando there was no way I was going back to the parking garage. I then entered the Florida turnpike, after reaching the speed limit the front end started to shake as if I had a tire out of balance. I pushed the car to seventy and It stopped shaking, now I have a wife screaming at me to slow down and I have a car shaking so I get off at the next exit for peace of mind. After exiting the turnpike I call Hertz and I am informed that they want to send out a tow truck for the car, I said send a replacement and the driver can take this back. I was then informed that they did not have another car to replace mine with as they were all out of cars. I then told them never mind I will drive this car and if anything happens it is your car and not mine. He said do what you have to do. Not one ounce of remorse about leaving us out to dry, no mention about finding another car or about helping us get to Orlando.

So off to Orlando using the back roads as we could not trust the safety of the tires Bye the way when we stopped and tried to exchange cars I took a look at the tires and have enclosed a picture of our tires with the wear bars showing. This decision to take back roads cost us time that we did not have.

Now as travel we smell Marijuana as the car warms up, at our next stop I looked under the seat and found, butts and much garbage. I do not know if the butts were legal or not but I threw them on the side of the road, as I really did not need any hassle from the police if I were to be pulled over. Funny thing we requested A non smoking car and were delivered a non smoking car ( ha )

Now down the highway we go using the cruise control which kept shutting down and a ding- ding would light up the dash, The dash warning light kept saying warning stabilizer. So we stopped again and I crawled under the car (remember I am a disabled Vet ) again to see how bad the stabilizer was and being a New York State vehicle inspector I felt that it was in the warning stages and if we proceeded with caution it would make it, On the road again it was not long before my wife started to complain that her seat belt would not loosen as she sat there every time she moved the belt got tighter. So one more time I stop and proceed to repair the seat belt lost another hour. When we finally reached Tampa Our final destination we were suppose to be there on Sunday as a result we made it on Monday. Spent the night along the way as we did not want to come into Tampa at night,\.I proceeded to Hertz to turn in the Rental. When we arrived I suggested that this car be taken out of service and asked to speak to the manager. I proceeded to tell the manager in Tampa all about our wonderful car and he then called Fort Lauderdale office and told him our horror story. The manager in Tampa said he could not do a thing as the Fort Lauderdale office was not directly connected to Hertz it was a sub contractor. After taking the phone from the Tampa manager I talked to the manager in Fort Lauderdale and he said all he could do was take off fifty dollars. I then asked if that was the best he could do and I was informed that this was the best he could do.

Well guess what not good enough, I am a business man and would never treat a customer of mine this way, I must be delusional as I felt that Hertz was the flag ship in the rental business. I feel safety and quality are what I was paying for, I would of been better off with a Rent A Wreck..

If I do not hear from you in a reasonable time I plan on taking this farther, please don't let this happen
