I just got my premiums for 2016 AARP Supplemental and Personal Health Plan(United Healthcare Insurance) and the rate will increase three times in 18 months. I called United Health (I live in Maryland) and they blamed in on Maryland Insurance Commission and that United Health wanted a younger insurance pool because they don't access United Health claims as much. I thought this AARP sponsored plan was for people over 65 years old. While AARP receives royalty fees, they should challenge these increases because we are on a limited budget. The United Health representative also told me that I got a discount so I would sign up and that discount will be reduced by 3% each year until I turn 75 (Seventy-Five) when there will be no discount. He went on to say that they are looking for a younger pool of policy holders. Can anyone in the Administration of AARP follow up on this?
