this is the 3rd singer embroidery machine I have had. my first was future 150 embroidery machine. I paid the extra money for training. I had a few issues with the first machine while it was under warranty. still had it to repair shop maybe 4-5 times over the next 7-8 yrs. a few months ago I purchased xl550 from overstock.com they were great to deal with. the 1st machine arrived in 2 days. the box was torn all to pieces. it was packed really well from singer. HOWEVER, there were all kinds of issues with the machine. NOW singer says do not return the machine in the "RARE" instance that something is wrong. so I contacted singer as instructed. good luck with trying to get thru to actually talk to someone. the phone lines are usually so busy that most times when I have had too call I think 1 time I got thru in less than 20 minutes. another time I waited 1 hr. 20 minutes and finally got to speak to someone. she tried to assist me BUT shortly after 5:00 I was told I would have to call back the next business day because the close @ 5;00. that was on a Friday, so I had to call back on Monday. she said to call early in the AM and I would not have as long of wait. now it is almost 5 months since purchase of my NEW machine. the 2nd new machine. today will be the 5th trip to the service center. I am told that I am basically "STUPID" by the service tech in my town. now I have had over 8 yrs experience with embroidery and a machine that does not perform. I spend more time taking it apart and re-assembling it than I do sewing with it. I am so frustrated at having a 1600.00 machine I cannot use. I was told by singer that I should be glad I had a service center in my town (LOUISVILLE, KY) otherwise I would have to ship it. BUYER BEWARE don't be enticed by HSN. I was told from an employee at HANCOCK FABRICS not to buy a singer but buy a Brother. I did not want to have to learn new software....wish now I had.
