This is in response to Dissappointed. I signed up for another account. After several trys I went into the Hotmail forum about account recovery, it took me a while, but was finally given a page where I had to give all my personal information, name, date of birth, etc. I also had to list several of my contacts and some of the specific documents that were listed. They had to verify that this was my account through this information. They gave me a code to use and you have to have that code in order to check on the status. They posted a website for me to go to and change my password. I had to resign in my old account from my new account and change my password. At first it would not let me in so I completely went out and did it again and finally it let me in. I deleted everything on my account then closed it and the new one too. Pain in the but!! I could not ever get a phone number. I hope this helps. Go to the Hotmail forum first and account recovery.

Hi everyone, sounds like there has been a blitz on spam with hotmail!!! I have been experiencing the same thing over the last few weeks. I'm very annoyed and I can't believe how difficult it is to address such a serious situation.
Not impressed. I have closed my account what a pain that was!!! and have spent endless hours trying to copy contacts and any emails of importance from that account.
I am now with another carrier and I too am telling everyone I know to close their hotmail accounts.

A) to the person who posted below me, what # did you call?
B) what I did was I went and set up a Gmail account, and I imported all my messages and contact info, this takes a few days though.

I had to set up another account with Hotmail in order to get them to respond to me about the first account that was hacked into. I did this and had to go to a page to set up a new password they gave me a code to put in everytime I accessed this page. Finally after I verified some of my contacts and some of the documents that were on my account and gave them someother information they finally let me back into my old account. This took 5 days to get a response on how to do this. Once they gave me the code it took about 36 hours to give me access to reset my password. I then printed all the things that were necessary and deleted everything from that account. I then closed that account and the new one. It was really frustrating that you cannot talk to a live person about this. I am now with a different email carrier. Good luck to everyone who is having this problem.

I too have had my account hacked by the stranded in England bunch. Hotmail offers absolutely no help and who knows what personal info these hackers have. I am contacting Congress, they like to intrude in everyones personal life and are always looking for a bad corporate citizen, what better one than Microsoft? I had this account for 10 years and would never had expected such shoddy disregard as displayed by Hotmail.

I am highly annoyed! I have been informed by a friend that someone in London is using my hotmail account asking for money. I have been trying to delete this account because I have never been out of the USA a day in my life!! I need HELP! i HAVE HAD THIS ACCOUNT FOR A LONG TIME an this is the first time that something like this has ever happened to me. What can I do to cancel this account!!

Having the same problem. Since today Aug.31.10 I have been unable to access my email account. I initially thought my internet service was down and called Cablevison. Hotmail is now asking for a password, which I supply; yet comes back saying can't access this page or Web is unable to answer at this time. This needs to be addressed immediately. Just because its a free account does not free MSN from the liability of giving us help or support. I will file claim with the appropriate Consumer Protections and Attorney Genral of the State MSN/hotmail are in until they get this corrected.

I am pissed off they told me that if I didnt verify my account then it would be lost and now I cant get in my account they need to do something about this immediately im pissed off

I am having the same problem that obviously thousands of others are having, hacked email account, fraudulent emails to my contacts, and blocked account so that I cannot get back in for any reason.... and absolutely no help from MSN!! Have found others who have had same problem as far back as 2 years ago.
Same scam, no solution. I am going to the media (TV and newspaper) to expose MSN and the scam. Hopefully that will get results!!

I have tried to get a response from someone to help me with the same problems that everyone else is having! Scam emails about sending money to London. Hotmail has a major break in their security. I am going to contact my local TV station and see if they can't put this out in the media. Maybe then we will get some action on this problem. I have also contacted all my friends and relatives to never, never use Hotmail again!!!
