My plan covered urgent care visits for a flat $50 copay, no deductible or co-insurance were to be charged. Had an urgent medical issue and went to the closest urgent care - which happens to be connected to a full hospital. Doc said I needed a CT scan and so I had it done. Turns out the CT scan equipment was physically located in the "hospital" part of the building and not in the "urgent care" (looked like all the same building to me, was literally just down the hallway).

Aetna refused to consider the CT scan as part of the urgent care visit, and billed it as an "outpatient" complex imaging service, for which I had to pay the full $1000. Just because the "hospital" generated the bill for the scan, not the "urgent care".

I appealed and appealed to Aetna's highest levels. So did the urgent care facility, on my behalf. Denied. Just because that damn scanner was in the next room.

Then I wrote to my state's insurance commissioner. They made Aetna pay it. Ha ha, and shame on Aetna. Took six months tho.

And they don't take feedback well! I told them that it's hard to find the 800 number on the website (I didn't have my id card) and the woman actually hung up on me! Truly pathetic.

Aetna is the most negligent insurance company I have every come across. They fail to send out EOBs to providers and when a call is put into the customer service representatives they NEVER have an answer. Even Dr. office personal will tell you they absolutely HATE dealing with Aetna. You can see the dismay on their faces when you tell them who your insurance company is. We will also be canceling our policy due to their sheer incompetence. Aetna is a textbook case of a company that generates so much ate in this country for medical insurance companies. ANYONE is better of with another provider!

Had to get address to mail daughter's COBRA payment. Aetna web pages did not give any information on COBRA. Finally started making random calls to Aetna's customer service groups. Made 3 or 4 calls to very polite telephone operators, but could tell that they really did not understand my problem...where to make COBRA payments.
Finally using the phone number shown on this site the operator put me in touch with another phone number who picked up the phone on the third ring, and answered my question immediately.

My Cobra is Up August 31, 2010. I called several numbers for Aetna trying to get the same coverage. I was able to reach a customer service rep each time I called. I finally did get a policy to cover me until I go on Medicare in April 2011. I didn't like the monthly figure quoted, but what can you do. All I can say is that I had a pleasant experience with customer service. even though I had to call about five numbers.

The absolute worse!!! i finally cancelled policy that i was paying $18000 per year...they owe me prescription re imbursements...a supervisor promised to reaserch and call me right back...after many days i called back time after time , after time and left messages with "live" people and never got a call back..then i asked for any supervisor to call me to resolve m,y issues...again, promises and no results. I am in process of tretainning an attorney and will go trough whatever i need to to get results and money back...

I tried 3 times to get a person. I went through the menu. It is the worst system. Having to push a option button is bad enough but saying something and repeating it over and over is exhausting. Then got to a "speak with a representitive" and was disconnected. Still do not have an answer to the question.

I am an expecting mother who has been fainting the whole pregnancy and my dr office has submitted all the information asked for. They have canceled everything fmla medical insurance and denied the leave and once again my dr has sent all info asked for. Not to mention the sons of guns will no longer answer the phone or return messages. Now im in threat of loosing my job when i have only 3 more weeks of pregnacy i have to go back to work.Its as if no one is concerned about my well being or the baby's. Completely disgusted at this situation.!!!!!

In January of this year, I signed up for health insurance with your Aetna Insurance Company and the quote was $72.00 per month.
In February of this year, I received your
bill for $114.00 for the month. Aetna Co.
lied to me and deceived me about the cost of your monthly bill. On February 16, 2010, I
filed the dis-enrollment form with your office but Aetna continues to bill me each
month including July, next month. Obviously,
your main office did not communicate with
your billing department. Each and every time, I telephone your Aetna number, I receive NO help to correct your mistake. All
I receive is arrogant, nasty, and invidious
answers to my problem. I am so frustrated that I will inform my 480 college students to
stay away from Aetna Insurance. Tomorrow, I
will be contact and filing a complaint with
the Pennsylvania State Insurance Commissioner.
