we went to the downtown htfd office to pick up a rental we reserved a week earlier only to be told there were no cars !! Then we were told if you want a car go to Bradley Airport 25 min away!! We get to Bradley get a car only to find the car completly trashed took it any way desperate at this time now 1 hour later to be done already get back to htfd 25 more min and car is making noise back to airport we go 25 more min get another renter only make it to exit of hertz car brakes are squealing and some kind of exhaust noise turn around back to the customer service desk was told by the lady to drive car till it warms up and noise will go away finally given another car 20 more min have past get on high way attempt to adjust mirrors to see and find out driver side dont work!! Well of course back to Hertz we go 20 more min called while in route spoke to vincent whom assured us he would rectify this when we arrived inspite of all that happened allmost 3hrs later Vincent was true to his word he got us in a car that fit our expectations of a rental. Thanks to Vincent the day was saved without his assistance this would have been the last visit to hertz which we use regularly. I work in customer service and understand things happen its what you do about it that matters even more .i help clients to book reservations,RENTALS and what ever else they need all over the US so the potiential to not only lose me and my husband as clients but a unknown amount of potiential customers could have been lost. Thank you Vincent for saving the day and saving Hertz from losing a large amount of potiential customers i do suggest they look at their schedule for weekends to enssure things are done properly and in a timely manner. You completely overbooked at the West 95th (NYC) office. We waited close to two hours. You never should have taken our reservation.
HOWEVER, DESPITE BEING INCREDIBLY LATE TO THANKSGIVING, YOUR STAFF IS INCREDIBLE. THE MANAGER WAS SUPERB. THE POOR PEOPLE BEHIND THE DESK, WHO WERE SCREAMED AT BY EVERYONE, WERE PATIENT AND KIND!
They saved your ass. Don't apologize to me. Tell them!

So I Reserved A Rental For Nov 8th And Didnt Qualify For The Rental Because Of My Credit Even Though I Did Not Get The Rental They Still Charged My Card Of $78.30 These Ppl Are Rip Offs I Will Never Recommend Them To Anyone Ever Again I Will Be Taking Them To Small Claims Because Of This.

I rented a car in Santiago Spain. First the unidentified clerk told me to pick the car up at the airport far from my Hotel. The clerk I went to in Santiago told me he would adjust the contract since I was sick and could not pick up the car on the date contracted. This was over the phone verbally from my Hotel in Santiago 3 days prior to pick up. When I got there the Hertz computer wouldn't alow Richard to NOT charge me the extra day. Thieves

I've made a complaint to Hertz Italy a week ago and have not heard from them... I'm afraid they would just ignore me? I had a very bad experience with Hertz and I wonder what I can do if they really ignore my complaint. Any idea folks?

never again will I rent from hertz! after standing me up (having no car) on my car rental location in san Francisco, directing me to another hertz that had no car, and a too much hassle to list, complaining to them, got a lousy e mail apology and a promise of $100 of hertz coupons i'd never be using that I NEVER received

Tara from Milan has to be the worst customer facing rep I have ever dealt with in my life. I will never rent a car from Hertz again! Passive aggressive, not allowing me to speak to her supervisor etc..

went to Ireland from Chicago. Got there 5AM-- Hertz, arranged by Travel Agency -- 3 Cars. Pushed high cost Ins -- we were ignorant and fearful and tired with no sleep. They also charged us 110 Dollars for fuel even though they actually bought NONE. We brought the cars back FULL. Their GPS unit worked one day --9 bucks a day. Last time to use HERTZ

Wow, I thought I was the only one who had been lied to and robbed by Hertz!! I too was charged for insurance I did not want, which ended up being more than the car....really HERTZ!! I am going to fight it, but of course the already got their triple money from my account!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THEM....TRIPLE CHECK WHAT YOU THINK YOU AGREE TO!

My experience with Hertz was very poor. In an effort to register my complaints I would have hoped for a more user friendly responses.
I will never use Hertz again. They did not take any responsibility for my issues which they were responsible for.

Beware of Hertz soaking you for unjust charges. I have been Hertz Gold for 30 years, renting in US and Europe and never had a problem or an accident. In June 2012, I rented from Hertz Canada and on June 7, a deer tried to jump over the car on Jasper Highway 93, denting the rear panel, leaving hoofprints on top and hair in the window frames. My All-State Insurance promptly paid for the damage; American Express Platinum, which pays the deductible and Loss Of Use, paid the deductible. They did not pay Loss of Use because Hertz Canada, after much stalling, could not prove Loss of Use losses resulting from my accident. Am Ex basis for payment of a Loss of Use claim is that 85% of cars in that class must have been rented during that period. Hertz only had 83% of cars in that class leased, so Am Ex denied the claim because there was no loss of use. Now Hertz is going after me, personally, to collect this fraudulent, non-existent Loss of Use. I will certainly never rent from them again in any location, and would recommend that others think twice before using Hertz.

When I called to reserve a car for September 10, I was told that Icould have a SMALL car (the smallest Kia), but when I arrived at the Hertz London airport office in the morning of September 10, no small cars were available. The Asian (Indian?) man who was in charge told me that he would upgrade me to a larger car for no extra cost. When I refused a huge car that would have been very difficult to handle in towns and on small little back roads, he told me that the Fiat Panda, the smallest thing he had available...which was still much larger than what I wanted...had a flat and it would have to be changed. My friend and I waited almost TWO hours during which time I reminded him several times. When I did not see him, I asked a very polite black worker who was in the kiosk to see what had happened and he called the garage and was told the car had a flat! Seems th mane garage had not been told someone was waiting for the car!!! The worker...not the manager...told him I had been waiting forever and to get the car over to me. When it arrived the Indian manager reappeared and when I mentioned how long we had waited, he said I had a car and I had refused to take it. Seems I could have waited ALL DAY because I, a woman, did not take his advice to take the larger car. Sexist, rude creature...should be sent to customer service sensitivity classes if not fired!

I find your car rental prices to be completly fictious on arrival in Spain I was told insurance you had given me was insufficient in the end I paid more for the insurance than I hire of the car plus your insurance as a result of this deception I will never use you again, all I ever ask for is people to be up front with me and tell me what I am actually covered for

Had one toll for $1.30 in Denver, charged $4.95 a day for 4 days or $21.10 total. Had a gold card for over 20 years, rent cars 60 days a year. Will move to last choice for me. The girl said too bad, it was in the contract. True you screwed me out $23, but you lost $7,000 + a year in revenue. See how that works out for you.

I called to complain about platepass and the transponders placed in vehicles. The person had no idea what to say or do. She insisted I call platepass. I have already spent an hour on the phone with platepass regarding charges for my Hertz rental. It is such a time waster. I have been improperly charged. I have now had to photocopy receipts, scan and email them. I believe this is a disservice to your company and expecially your customers. I called again. The second person at Hertz told me to go to hertz.com and voice my complaint. I already did that 2 days ago - whichout hearing anything.

Rented a car after i was in an accident. The sales person at hertz mesa az said i had to get insurance threw them or else i can't get car. Told him i couldn't afford it , he said don't worry there insurance will pay. So i called my insurance rep, she called him to take it off. Hertz said they did ,but lied my bill is crazy 275 extra when my insurance covers me no matter what. I will never rent a car threw them. Corporate won't call me back sales rep at hertz in mesa on Dobson and main won't call me either! !!! There worse than car dealers they ripped me off !!!!

I reserved my car on 8/26/13 for a 8/30/13 got to hertz on the 30th waited 45 mins for an hertz agent to arrive. I have meet her 3 times and still don't know her name. I returned with the rental on 9/2/13 the agent knew I would need a ride home. Been waiting 30 minutes. My time is valuable and thus is insane. Customer Service is awful at Hertz car rental. This is the last time I rent from Hertz...

I rented a car on 8/30/13 and returned it on9/2/13. The service that I was given when returning the car to a person who identified himself as Wesley Sawyer was HORRIBLE He charged two different credit cards after my telling him to not charge the original car. He told me that he couldn't remove the
charge because he works for Dollar and Thrifty not Hertz. He was SUPER NASTY. He wouldn't give me a number to call your general office and told me that I could call his manager the next morning. I feel that I should be compensated in some way for this humiliation. I was looked over for more than 20 minutes while he served everyone who came up.

I received a rental vehicle from Hertz on 8/14/13 while my car is in the shop for collision damage. The car is a Chevy Malibu which is nice (although smells like old cigarette smoke). I will be driving the car for approximately 2 weeks while my car is in the repair shop. The agent, who was new to the New Port Richey, FL office, filled out the agreement as a one day rental, and told me he would extend the agreement as needed by calling the collision center to see how much more time was needed. Two nights ago I received a horrible ROBO-CALL from Hertz from the Vehicle Control Department, telling me I had better call their 800 # to "prevent further legal action" due to my failure to return the vehicle.
I was in complete shock. Of course Veh. Cont. Dept. was already closed for the night, so I called billing customer service (who was still open for a few more minutes) who said they couldn't help, but to call the local office the next morning, which I did.
Evan, the rep apologized and empathized (he said he was told to do this because of this prevalent computer glitch which has been failing to retain the corrected extended return dates. He again extended the rental return date until 8-30-13. He later called me back to confirm that he had done so.
Last night, I received another ROBO-CALL putting me back to square 1. This time I called when Veh. Cont. Dept. was open, was put on hold for a long time, then disconnected. Tried several more times- same results. Today I called them during their Saturday hours (8-2 CST) and was told they were closed. I have now emailed to the address on their "sorry we are closed" message, and copied corporate customer service as well I will never rent a vehicle from Hertz again for the rest of my life, that's for sure!

While I was renting a car in Italy, it was slightly damaged by a driver of another car, whose driving license and insurance information I provided on a specially completed form to the HERTZ office upon returning it.
I was charged NWEXCESS and Damage Administration Fees and was told that they will be reimbursed to me as soon as HERTZ receives the money from the insurance company of a driver responsible for the damage.
I was also advised to contact Hertz in my country to follow up this procedure.
I sent a request from the website regarding the past rentals, but never heard back from you.
When I called the International Reservation Office, I was given the following number to call: I donâ??t quite understand why living in Canada I need to call to Ireland to discuss my past rental in Italy while the head office of HERTZ is in the USA. Nevertheless, I called this number and it is totallyu bogus. I was given an e-mail to send: and never received any response. I am outraged with the service this company provides and I won't give up until I get my money back even if I have to take it all the way up to the Supreme Court!

HI, Good evening Unfortunately I recently rent a car from Hertz (Mazda 2) and unfortunately the car gave me and my family (my 6 years old son and my wife) a very BIG problem (car was not moving ) and while I called the office (talked to one of your employee) and gave 5 different calls (in total) to the Road assistance service (before I could get an assistance around 4 PM and had to wait until 7:45pm before I could finally get a car).
First of all I was told by one of your employee (a Lady) that I should ''mind my language" when I was REQUESTING her "to get some help as soon as possible instead of talking " (these were my words) as my son (6 years old) was crying in a heat in almost a desert area on a high way, in the heat of the sun...I had to on that day repeat my story 5 different time to 5 different people..
then I had to go the infernal 3 hours of repeating my story to 5 different people and every single time I was put on hold .. and one lady first she said that I was not Driving the way i should be.. and when I asked her what did she mean (telling her that was NOT the first time I have been driving even though I did not know much in motors/ in cars mechanic but I never had any issue until that day) so she got MAD/upset and put me on hold... then the same lady called me leaving a message that there was an issue with the transmission or oil getting pocketed somewhere in the motor and I had to do some thing to get the car fixed....when I tried to call her back, an other lady told me that that person had already left the road assistance office and transferred me to some other person who did NOT know anything / was not aware of anything, of anything was going on.. which is AMAZING because whenever we call we are told that our conversations are recorded and the more Shocking is that no body was aware of anything though I had a talk with 5 different persons within a 2 hours and NO trace of anything regarding my conversation or my case!!! until I call again and request a 5th person to find out my case / my ongoing problem .. so then this lady took 10min (thanks to her) she did her job and could get help so that I could get a replacement car around 7:45PM
one of the person That I had pleasure to talk as telling me that I had to Pay everything for the Towing ..when I asked her that I have taken the road side assistance insurance I was told that it was Not covered within it (amazing.. isn't it..) and then when I called the Hertz unit manager at Flagstaff (he) told me something totally different!!
all this to let you know that you and your road side assistance do NOT know what they are doing....and they are NOT helping anybody at all.. I had to go through all this to figure out.
I want all my rental money reimbursed now and the prejudice of going through all this (My 6 years old son, my wife and myself)

My name is James English I work for HESS Oil in St Lucia W.I. On the 1st of August I flew from St Lucia to George Bush Air Port Houston Texas I came in at 11:00 P.M
Went to the Hertz Air Port rental I had a reservation Confirmation # There were two agents a Black Woman and a White Woman I went to the Black woman with reservation in hand from Hess travel she said she did not need that only my last name I told her she looked it up on her computer and found it. She then asked me for prof that I worked for HESS Oil I only had my reservation she knew my name was James English I had a Texas drivers License and a Pass Port to prove I was James English she said she had to have proof I worked for Hess. The reservation should be prof. I told her to just charge me for the car she did a one hour drive cost.$230.00 USD The next morning I returned the car to Hill Crest Motors Hertz in Huntsville Texas I talked with Travis the sales manager for Hertz who has worked with me on many rentals over the past few years He is GREAT to deal with he apologized for the Black woman in Houston Note: Travis is a Black Man and he can attest that it is not a racial problem.
Travis adjusted the cost to $67.66 USD HESS Oil does a lot of business with Hertz and I do not think the woman in Houston was very professional.

maybe a good company when you rent without problems, but atrocious when you have a problem. Reserved car for Italy with pre-paid voucher, to find out that someone at hertz HQ cancelled our reservation. We had to rent what they had on the lot and the price doubled. We wait 4 weeks and 3 days to get back only our pre-paid voucher and no compensation for canceling our initial reservation, not to talk about the aggravation of spending 4 hrs of overseas vacation waiting in a Hertz office.
