this works!! I even got someone who sounded like they were in the US!!

KAT 8/26/10 9:45AM

This company has got to be the worst company doing business in America. You will never be able to contact a live person. Good luck on getting a temporary lift on a credit freeze. I just which all of the idiots running this company with drop dead of a heart attack.

Redhead 8/19/10 1:37PM

Why am I required to pay to view my personal credit score? It is a scam to only be able to view "my" report when, we all know that the most important thing is the actual personal credit score, that you all calculate and maintain without my permission...

If it is my credit score, that again, that I did not request that you track, why should I be required to pay to observe it?

This whole idea of you guys "keeping track" of "my" credit is just a capitalistic way of making money on the backs of others!!!
I, the consumer, should be able to see my credit score, once a year along with the actual report itself, at no cost to me. You are all making money hand over fist for, what I consider, a bogus "service". This is all a way to continue to keep the small man in his place and the big men on top!!! If it were not for us, the small man, you would not have a reason for existence...

Will I get a response addressing my concerns , or will all of you be small men and women and cower at my words of truth?

Anonymous 7/20/10 9:06AM

why is it soooo difficult to speak with a live person...it is awful!

mehla 7/16/10 12:29PM

The only way I was able to speak to a live person was to do the following:

1. Order a copy of my free credit report through annualcreditreport.com and print the report #

2. Call Experian's 1-888-397-3742 number

3. Select zero, then zero, then zero

4. Enter report number when asked...must be within the last 90 days

5. Select zero when asked about disputes

I also found this company to be the most difficult to contact and cannot believe they are allowed to do business like this. Experian makes the airlines look like angels in terms of customer service.

Anonymous 6/24/10 11:32AM

I have been trying for about an hour to contact a customer service rep. stupid automated machine is all i got. Thanks to Aaron below i was able to be connected...here's the instructions:

1. Have a recent copy of your credit report. You'll need that number.

2. Call 1-800-493-1058
3. Say "YES" when asked if you have a current report.
4. Enter the report number, and enter the last 4 digits of your social.
5. When prompted, select "file a dispute"
6. When prompted, select "1 - dispute credite item"
7. When asked for the first digits of the credit item, enter "0".
**after this step it said "no disputes were filed at this time..." it then continued to connect me to an agent. if you have patience stay on the line. might be your only hope for a live person! good luck all!

Anonymous 6/10/10 7:21AM

I ordered a 3 company credit report from experian last night. I was given an order # and told to keep for my records. I copied the number down and hit continue to view my report online. The report came up, but something happened and it closed. When I tried to access it again, i was asked to put in the report number and ss#. When i did this, it says that it is the wrong report number. I tried calling them, but you can't get thru without the dang report number. I have no idea what to do. I feel like I sould either order another report and call with that number, or call my bank and have the charges reversed.....help????

mauirain 6/7/10 8:18AM

This company claimed I do not have a credit history, and when I called there is no choice available to speak with a live person if you do not have a credit report number.

I have had a credit history for 40 years and have my own home. I can not correct this with this company because I can't even get to live person to explain my situation, without a report number.

Anonymous 5/3/10 6:36AM

If you are look for a number to cancel your 7 trail membership with Experian then you have to call the following # 1-888-888-8553. They will be able to help you out with that request.

7-day trial period 4/22/10 9:51AM

Experian is AWFUL! I was told about a year ago that I am a victim of identity theft and fraud by a representative of Experian. She then told me that I had to pay 250$ to pay for a program with legal papers and everything else to clear up my credit. I am only 19 years old and have not even established credit yet, so I was thoroughly upset and complied to pay for this program. I was also guaranteed that there would be a security alert on my credit and nothing would ever happen to my credit or identity again. THIS WAS A LIE! The first step of recovering my credit was to request my report from all 3 credit bureaus, then circle the erronous items and send the reports back. When I got the reports, THERE WAS NOTHING ON THEM! Even though experian had told me that I was officially a victim. I figured some small mistake had been made and everything was as it should be. When I went to buy a car yesterday, the rep at the dealership pulled my credit report and showed me that someone had bought 2 apartments and a house under my name and social security number....I THOUGHT THIS WASN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPPEN due to the flag on my credit?! DONT BUY FROM EXPERIAN! THEY WILL SCAM YOU!!!!!

EFF_EXPERIAN 4/18/10 4:21PM

Unbelievable...

I believe Experian is a wholly owned subsidiary of a phone company. The amount of times you have to call in, and get NOTHING is amazing.
Whats more amazing is that people/companies actually use their service to determine credit worthiness.

I was denied credit, and the reason given was that there are six or seven people with similar names as me, and they have bad credit. Unbelievable... I have no problems with Equifax or Transunion... Just Experian. And what's worse is that i can't speak with anyone regarding it...

I_HATE_EXPERIAN 2/24/10 8:53PM

Regarding 866-673-0140 to reach a "Credit Expert":

This phone number is NOT for Experian, but for FreeCreditReport.com, which is not a free service in any way! You do get through to a customer service representative, and she was able to "help" me, but then at the end of the call she informed me that it would cost me $14.95/month to access my "free" credit report online. I said I was unable to order a free report on Experian's website, and she said she could not help me unless I signed up for a membership.

Anna S. 2/12/10 9:20AM

"How can you be involved in persons credit when you give results without anyone able to contact or question you????"

Experian won't help you unless you sign up for one of their products. In my case, they wouldnt allow me to sign up for the experian site but they would allow me to access that ridiculous freecreditreport.com.

After a few hours they banned my phone, and I no longer get an agent.

Call the Federal Trade Commission and you'll get a shrug from them.

So how do you deal with them? I have no idea. Essentially this is a rogue company that seems to have a tight relationship with the US Government. It may be secretly owned by the US to collect data, because I have no idea how else they could get away with what they do.

Anonymous 1/26/10 3:38PM

The phone number to reach a live person is 1 800 493-1058. During the automated prompt messages, I said 'AGENT' and it was recognized. It took 3 minutes to SPEAK WITH A LIVE PERSON!!! HOORAY!!! Using the other numbers ARE WORTHLESS AND FRUSTRATING...

Snowflake 1/26/10 1:14PM

I certainly agree EXPERIAN SUCKS. I too was only trying to correct personal info--an address where I never lived in a state I never lived. I did get a person, in India, who told me in order to help I had to be a member and would not help without a credit card. He is also working unsupervised according to him. Neither of these numbers are any good. 866 673 0140 and 888 397 3742. The number this site gave for Equifax was fine and that person corrected the problem.

Anonymous 1/22/10 2:20PM

I have had a freeze on my credit for a few years now and never had a problem temporarily lifting it and re-freezing when I was ready. Today I got a letter in the mail from Experian saying my name, address or SSN was changed in my file. I did not make these changes. It gave me a number to call if I had any questions. I called the number and got a recording pretty much repeating what was in the letter. Then it gave me the option to purchase a copy of my report. I'm sorry, but I already paid for the service of freezing my credit and how did anyone make any changes to my information if my report was frozen? Why should I have to pay to see what is being done on my report? I couldn't get a live person on the phone so I had to purchase the report and will end up waiting up to 10 days to get a copy of my report in the mail. In the meantime, if someone has access to my report, god knows what they're doing to it while I wait. It is absolutely ridiculous that there is not one number where you can get a live person to answer a question about a letter they sent me. I'm FUMING!

KissGirl 1/11/10 7:42PM

I have been on the phone for an hour trying to get to a person that the website told me I need to speak with to fix personal infomation... WHy do I have to do all this to fix there mistakes? the others two bereau have the correct information.

Anonymous 1/8/10 9:28AM

why do you have credit expert number listed?????? They dont even tell customers its not experian its credit expert......

Nothappy 12/2/09 9:03AM

We citizens need to rise up and demand that laws be passed that require the credit agencies to give an option (that works) to speak directly to a representative. We consumers need to band together and if necessary file in front of Congress and tell our stories of how Experian (I don't have trouble with other agencies) gets info messed up on your report, makes you go thru hell to get it fixed, then it doesn't stay fixed (they keep tying another person's credit info to mine who has a last name I had 15 years ago!! and she has really bad credit).. I just got a credit card account closed because of Experian's inefficiencies. I think it's purposeful though... think of how many people's records they are screwing up, and how you have to go back and pay for additional reports, or they make you think their Free Credit Report company can help you (all they kept doing was sending me information that they were putting on my report from the person they said they had removed from my report!!). Everyone contact your congressman and senator- if enough of us do this a movement will arise and maybe we'll get some action!!

cathyb4 10/29/09 12:16PM

the worst service i have ever incurred in my life. all you get is a bunch of choices to pick, none of which are about your problem...I will be 70yrs old in less than three weeks and they have me down as a minor. I can't reach them to correct this...what can I do???

chuck639 10/15/09 2:05PM

Very bad service, unable to get help with a discrepancy in my free credit report, it had no reference number, I needed to become a member in order to be heard. I just wanted to let them know that they had an address on my report that I had never lived at. Wow I have never seen such bad service or difficulty in reaching some type of number to be heard. This is horrid.

Anonymous 9/9/09 5:50PM

this company SUCKS!! i did not even use the cedit report and they charged me for use. billed at 19.95 and would not refund the money now a days people do not have money to throw away on this dumb crapp!! they should get customer service reps that can pull the thumb out of their mouth and speak clear english and maybe some things would be accomplished better.

pookiepooh 7/24/09 10:51AM

To Aaron613 posted 4/21/09: Thank you. I just called and followed the steps you listed, and very quickly reached actual person; was then transferred to an agent who was able to take care of what I needed via phone.

CJS 5/28/09 12:49PM

Thank goodness for this site! The first #listed above is actually to Experian Member services. A membership that you pay to manage your credit info. The second # is an automated svc that w/out a credit report in front of you-THEY WON'T HELP!! I COULDN'T GET A LIVE PERSON TO SAVE MY LIFE! I called the # listed in a previous comment as the headquarters 714.830.7000;got the receptionist. I asked for a live person in customer svc; her comment was that when she woke up this morning she was alive. That would have been great if she could have actually done anything, but like I said, is the receptionist. She did, however, transfer me to A LIVE PERSON. What a freakin mess. A criminal can steal your information or you can be denied credit due to error without this hassle, but you can't even get to your own information to update anything.... HOW CRAZY IS THAT!!! This is truly unacceptable, but who monitors or controls them?....exactly!

"Our System" at work 5/20/09 10:29AM

I found a way through. I don't remember exactly what I did but I think I basically called their phone number, told them yes when prompted, then I entered my report number and the last four of my social. After that I just hit zero when they gave me number choices (no, they don't list zero as an option). They then told me that no dispute was filed during my call. I thought they were going to hang up on me, but they instead instantly transferred me to a live person when the automated voice was finished talking. It was pretty easy. Took like 30 seconds.

Anonymous 5/13/09 11:55AM

How can you be involved in persons credit when you give results without anyone able to contact or question you???? I've tried all numbers and no way to contact a person in regards to a dispute you DID WRONG! I have a bill removed from the other 2 credit Bureaus as it was PIF at the tjime. You report it hasn't been paid but I cannot contact you to find out what kind if any research you did as you would have seen that it was PIF. In the mean time you are hurting my credit! Everyone should contact the BBB and put you out of business You SUCK!

Anonymous 5/11/09 7:15AM

Hi ~ Recently Experian and Equifax have listed me as being deceased. I have so far been able to contact Equifax through a number I found on this site (not their own site, because heaven forbid someone actually try to contact them).

I am suprised that I cannot find a number for Experian either.

nelbra 5/11/09 6:10AM

Here's how to get a person:

8. When asked again for the the first digits of the credit item, say "help".
9. The virtual operator will then tell you that "we'll skip this for now" and ask if you have any disputes with personal info, if not select 2. Select 2.
10. The virtual operator will then ask if you have any disputes with credit inquiries, if not select 2. Select 2.
11. The virtual operator will then ask if you still need help with your dispute that you skipped. Say yes. You will then be transferred to a customer service person that can answer your questions. Hooray!!!

Aaron613 4/21/09 1:57PM

This is crazy, no way to get a live person!!!! there so called customer service number gets you no where! what a piece of junk service

Anonymous 3/30/09 9:45AM

Is there a live person in the house? I am thoroughly frustrated. I cannot speak with a live person just to do a simple lift of a security freeze. As a result, I cannot get re-financed. Help someone...

Anonymous 3/13/09 1:26PM

First of all, THANK YOU for this site, which I accidentally stumbled on while trying to find a number for a live customer service rep for Experian. I contacted the number you have listed for Experian Customer Service after discovering that my credit score had plunged 18 points from 1 inquiry from a mortgage company when I decided to refinance my home - there were no other changes, everything was on time and as a matter of fact my total debt had decreased since the prior month. After requesting to speak to a supervisor since the original rep could not answer my question as to why it had gone down 18 points from 1 inquiry, I was informed that I had not reached an actual Experian office but a company that answers questions for them and they could not answer that question. I asked the supervisor for a number so that Experian could answer my question directly. After being put on hold the second time (first time over 10 minutes to get to him) while he told me he would try to locate the number, I sat on hold for over 30 minutes (yes, I'm stubborn and unfortunately recently laid off so I had more time than I ordinarily would have) it was obvious that he had no intention of ever getting back to me. I did find a number for their corporate headquarters in Costa Mesa, CA which is 1-714-830-7000 I did get a live operator who promptly asked if she could put me on hold. I was on hold at that number for over 5 minutes and when the operator got back on all she was willing to do was transfer me to a customer service representative. So where does someone go to get a real answer from someone who controls my credit score??

akamsj 2/17/09 12:24PM

When reporting identity theft, it is easy to get in contact with a real person. They are good about offering to freeze your account so others cannot view your credit file. However, when trying to remove that freeze there is a fee even though a statement is made about victims of identity theft not being charged. I now feel like the victim of a second crime. VERY UNSATISFACTORY!

Anonymous 2/5/09 12:38PM

Unable to reach the customer service ..this is really critical ..having real bad experience and person i talked to was not at all helpful

saisriorl 1/28/09 10:17AM

I've tried for a couple of years to reach a real person and no luck. My credit score has had a comment as long as I've had credit that I haven't had credit long enough. I've had credit for over 16 years!!!!!! When I try to find out how my score is calculated and what the best way is to change it, the only option is to BUY software from the same reporting agencies that give the scores. So, someone collects data on me, make me PAY to view it, makes me PAY to see what changes I need to make, will NOT let me talk to a real person yet my insurance, interest rates, job and ability to borrow money is all impacted by this place. What am I missing???

US Citizen 1/10/09 10:59PM

This company is quite possibly one of the worst in customer service.

I signed up for a Credit Monitoring Service earlier this year. When I recently attempted to login to my account, I was denied access. So, I tried to use the Login Help feature that asked for my last name, SSN, and date of birth.

The Login Help was of no help. Once I entered my information and clicked submit, I was taken to a page that said "We're sorry. The information you provided does not match our records. If you have not purchased products with us before, please click here to return to the products page. This will allow you to choose a product and register to become a member."

Next, I attempted to locate a customer service phone number so that I could speak to a company rep and sort out this issue. No luck here either. I have to login to the website to gain access to their meaningful customer service numbers. Well, I can't to that if the site won't allow me to log in, can I!?

-Seriously Frustrated

Anonymous 12/28/08 10:46PM

I would like to add a comment or two....it is BS...I have tried every conceivable way to reach a real live customer service person so that I can say "what the heck happened to my CREDIT SCORE" that I was to receive after bringing up my credit report and PAYING the requested (via bank account) fee of $5.95 .... WHEN the score was to be FREE upon bringing up the credit report!!!!! I am really angry and do not understand but as promptly as I can I am going to cancel anything and everything that Experian shows me as ordering.....yet, all I WANT is to have the promised credit SCORE that should have come up on my email hours ago (like they say it only takes a few minutes...try never).

Anonymous 12/18/08 2:32PM

this place is bull sh******* they have phone numbers but no body is ever there the only way they can help u is if your blind and its still an automated systen , that is bs all the way everyone should call and report to the gov.

Anonymous 12/9/08 12:48PM

This place is a bunch of BS. They treat you just like freecreditreport.com (which, come to find out, requires the same enrollment with Triple Advantage anyway...) and make it next to impossible to cancel your free 7 day membership. Its like they count on people to give up in order to charge them for services that people don't need.

pissedoffpuertorican 11/21/08 11:58AM

People are right. There doesn't seem to be any way to talk to a live person at any of the Experian phone numbers.

Anonymous 11/6/08 5:37PM

this morning I received a call from a Cell phone. I was told because I made my credit card payments on time (this provided by Experian) I would be eligible to have my interest rates reduced to less then 7%! Claims Card Services had been on Oprah and she had suggested everyone work with Card Services to lower their interest rates.

He could not answer any questions I had to him, such as, whom do I call to confirm this information, how to research this information and how to return a call should I decide to use this Card Services.

So, what is the deal here and how does Card Services benefit from lowering everyones interest rates.

exit2sandy 10/21/08 6:53AM

Wow, I'm glad to see everyone else in the world hates Experian.
I've been trying to get my dead brother's credit card off my report for 2 years and Experian is the only company I have been unable to contact. Why do we have to pay these omnipotent jerks to fix their own mistakes?

Anonymous 10/1/08 8:49AM

They are a terrible company! The US government should investigate them, as I have requested that they correct an error 4 times. The creditor has requested 4 times. We have submitted evidence supporting our claim and so has the creditor and NOTHING. Still on there. They truly disgust me. No idea what to do to get this fixed. No regulatory body to help. DOGS!

MIAMILADY 8/27/08 12:51PM

I successfully placed a security freeze on my credit file online. We then tried to place a security freeze on my wife's credit online. Each time it said to do by mail and gave me a letter to send. I even tried two different credit cards.OK so I will do by mail but when I checked my credit cards accounts immediately after I was charged 2 extra $10 fees on one card and one bogus$10 fee on the other card. I have tried to call but there are no live representatives to talk to!!!I sent an email and did receive a reply that I would be dealt with as email was received. I have extreme doubts.
Next stop is Clark Howard!

Anonymous 8/26/08 2:29PM

no morals no ethics they called me then called me a liar ,told me that they ran the company they had my phone no. and could ruin me .

Anonymous 8/15/08 3:50PM

Experian should make it much more easier to contact them & actually speak to a live person especially when their website just takes you around in circles.
