I would like to see SS Administrator update their site to be able to schedule an appointment with someone live rather than call in. Yes, it is nice to be able to look up important information, however collecting SS is a big step and for some of us, being able to speak to an expert! 35 Minute wait time is Unacceptable..

Got some deep voiced automated recording blabbering about random stuff that had to be listened to before getting to the actual system that would allow a live representative to take the line. What a waste of minutes when a cell phone has to be used to make the call.

Once the number is called one is in an unedning phone loop. Hitting 0, 0,0,0, etc.gets you out of the loop. I waited 24 minutes and then I was disconnected. I have found in the past that the best way to reach them is NOT on Mondays. Their hours are 7-7, so starting to dial before 7.00am inthe morning is the best way to get to them. I'll have to try again and again. Too bad they can't give SS more help or more improtantly an email center so they can join the 21st century.

I did not receive my 1099 form. I called the IRS ( thinking they would have it) I was told I need to call back after Febr. 3rd. Called back and was told the IRS would not have it until after Febr. 15th. I was told to call the Social Security Office. The person I talked to sounded foreign. I had a terrible time getting him to understand I needed a replacement. Finally, he said I would get it no later than Febr. 15th. It is now Sat. the 14th, and President's day on Monday. I have lost $2000 because of their incompetence. I am passed the cancel deadline for a 10 day stay in Arizona, I will now not be able to get my taxes done and my return in time. This is PATHETIC!!!

Today I waited for a call back from Social Security 800 number as they said it would be 15 minutes. Phone rang; it said to say "Ready" and when I did they hung up. I called back that number and got a rude woman who didn't know crap. They cannot possibly be paying their staff can they? This happened on 12/11/2014. It would be easier to talk to an automated robot and they mould be more personable too !!!

I hope every one of those bureaucrats suffer the same "service" they deny to others. They exist solely to maintain distance between us and the legal benefits that we're promised. Now if someone is an illegal alien, having 30 kids from 40 dads or just can't work because... well, it's so hard... they're all over helping the lazy and worthless bums! But if you pay your taxes these asshats won't even answer the phone! TRY TO GET THROUGH! Our local office stops taking calls at NOON! Where else can you get a job where you can stop working at lunch time? I hope their families all have a life event that requires them to need the benefits and that they EACH suffer the same arrogant disdain that we do in their own time of need. (But I'll bet that THEY have a special inside way to take care of family claims... maybe that's why they don't have time for us!)

Don't bother with the endless automated questions. Just say "agent".
Then you will wait forever and then be disconnected.
Worst customer service ever. No one answers the phone, ever.
Time to clean house at SS from the top down.
Write your congressman now. JJ

The entire "customer service" system for social security is in essence a misnomer. It took me over 45 minuets calling 3 different offices NOT to be able to reach an agent. After following a lengthy series of prompts I was told (via recording) that I would be connected to the next available agent the phone then rang and I was told "all agents are busy, try your call again later" after a few seconds the call was automatically disconnected. My government in action. This same series of events took place at all three offices I tried to reach. Is this a joke or what?

The worse customer service I have ever had, and that includes Wal Mart.. The agent assigned to respond to my call back request was named LaKeshia. From the onset of the conversation she was very rude, inpertinent, loud, impersonal, abrupt, condescending, and totally lacking in people skills. She proceeded, without asking, to tell me what I did and didn't do. Bottom line, I got NO service from this GOVERNMENT WORKER PAID BY TAXPAYERS. I am a Vietnam era disabled veteran seeking help with disability application paperwork. Social Security needs to clean house of these rude and inefficient workers. The government has become a safety net for underqualified individuals who have to commit 3 felonies in order to be verbally reprimanded. Where is the incentive for these people to do a better job. Lifetime employment without oversight is the worse thing that has ever happened in the American work force, and in particular, federal government agencies. They basically don't give a damn, and don't mind letting you know it because they can't be terminated unless they try to assassinate the president. Sad commentary for taxpayer monies wasted on the inept, insecure, uninformed, under trained, and ignorant space eaters...not workers.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HOIRRIBLE
I tried to do as directed on this page "How to reach a live person:Press 1 for English. Speak "customer service" " The computer that answers the phone would not accept that as a valid response. It would not accept any of my choices as valid responses. After the computer wasted my time for 10 minutes, it told me I could wait to talk to someone, or get a call back, in about 25 minutes. If you didn't waste peoples time with useless computerized choices, it wouldn't take so long to help them with what they really want.
Many of us who are calling are, or have been, TAXPAYERS. That means we pay your salaries. If it was up to me, you'd all be fired & replaced with people who actually want to work.

Good Morning,

I called this morning to have my user id and I can't speak loud and the lady that answer the phone was very mean and I told her that I could not speak any louder that's how I speak and if I try harder it will hurt my throat and I guess she did not understand that and try to imitate what I said and hang the phone on my and that is very professional of her that' why I don't like calling and talking to anyone at the administration.

Thank you,

Vanessa Hernandez

The social security office located on laconia between Gunhill and Boston rd is not organized...a lot of the workers there are rude..they are not customer service oriented... After waiting for 3 hours they had all numbers starting with the letter B with no appointments to stand on one line..while they continued to call the B but only all who had an appointment....to tell me after an hour standing on the no appointment line to have a seat...to wait for my ticket to be called.... I had to end up getting another ticket.....

I have called numerous time asking for assistance regarding my disabled daughters ssa454 and ssa827 form which I sent to social security. One of the customer service agents was blatantly rude and disrespect and then hung up the phone on me. I then went down to the social security off in Charlotte nc and resubmitted the forms in person and continue to received letters stating that the forms were not received. What is happening with this department?

Called my local office. NO one home.
Called general number 15 minimum wait.
Are these people really that busy?

So my mother went to call SS about my brothers benefits and such since he is disabled and she is advocating for him. When it came time to give the SSN out she pulled it up and called me over to read it to her since she is partially blind. The customer service agent decided to snap at her and tell her she had to read it and get no help. She explain she is partially blind and couldn't read the small print on the card. He told her that she should then get to know the number and hung up. We were both amazed by the tenacity of the service worker, amazing people... disgusting.

I assume you hear enough negative comments. Well here's a better one:

I have had two contacts with Social Security in the past two years. Both have been VERY professional and helpful, going beyond my expectations.

In one case, while I was applying for SSC, I was talking to my wife about the fact that we would have to save some of it for taxes. The agent I wast talking to, spoke up and said that she had really good hearing and overheard what we were talking about, and she could take care of that for us. She was professional, helpful, friendly and clearly enjoyed her job.

I could tell you another equally positive tail when my wife recently applied for SSC but you get the idea.

The Government actually doing something right! Keep up the good work.

I just called customer service to ask a question for a friend who does not speak good English. The person I spoke with was very rude and would not answer a general question. She kept saying is there anything else. I did tell her I thought she was rushing me and she hung up.
What Customer Service!!!!!!!! I'm going to try again to see if I can speak with someone who cares!!!!!!

Contact Information is fine providing you don't live in the Republic of Panama. The only way I can call Social Security is if I have access to a regular local phone number. None of their toll free numbers can be called from Panama. I can not find a regular phone number for any Social Security office, or an e-mail address.
