Posted by Anonymous

My experience with ING DIRECT customer service is top notch.Everytime I have called I hardly have to wait. My request is always attended to immediately by the friendly representative and without any hassles.
Can't praise them highly enough. Many other organizations could learn from these guys.

ING has the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with.

I have been trying to resolve a problem with one of my mother's annuities for a month now. Mom had two annuities from ING. When she died, my brother and I had to fill out reams of paperwork so they could be distributed between us. Long story short, one got distributed quite promptly, but the other has not yet been.

So last week on a day I had off of work I called the ING Customer Support line, to find out what was holding it up.

When I called, I was put on hold. So I waited. And waited. And waaaaaaiiiiiiited. For FORTY MINUTES. Listening to the tinniest, most distorted music track I’ve ever heard. Of course, every minute or two the music would be interrupted by a voice saying “Your call is important to us!” Just not important enough to actually hire someone to answer it.

When someone finally answered the phone, I could barely hear or understand her. This was clearly the cheapest call center in Bangalore. I struggled to get her to understand what I was calling about. She had no clue. She finally put me on hold so she could go ask someone else my question. After several minutes, she came back on and gave me a totally nonsensical answer. I tried to explain it to her, but it was hopeless. Eventually, I gave up.

So yesterday I tried again. Got in line. Waited. Finally the call was answered by a man who I could barely hear or understand. I tried to explain why I was calling. He said he couldn’t answer. He said I should call this other number. I pointed out that that was the number I’d dialed. He wouldn’t believe me. He then said that the person who could answer my question was ‘busy’, so he would transfer me to an answering machine, and the person would call me back ‘sometime in the next 24 hours’. I said that wasn’t acceptable. He didn’t care. He transferred me, and after waiting FIVE MINUTES on hold FOR AN ANSWERING MACHINE, I hung up.

So this morning I called the broker who’d sold the annuity to Mom. I figured that, while ING might feel comfortable treating its customers like dirt, they’d probably be more careful with the people who were actually selling their products. Well, the guy said that he’s been having the same problems getting ahold of them. He thinks they switched call centers at the first of the year, and the new one is having a rough start-up. If that’s what’s going on, then whoever was in charge of switching call centers should be fired. After they’re tarred and feathered and boiled in oil.

If you value your sanity, don’t ever do business with ING.

Your customer service is awful. I called your help number only to get someone in the Philippines who kept me on the phone for over an hour with no resolution. I am a former General Agent with your company, so I intimately know how things should work. My client and I are totally fed up with your life insurance customer service department. I have been a General Agent for over 30 years and I can safely state that your CSR department is without a doubt, the worst I have had ever dealt with. Too bad. From: John Scifo

In March I received a letter from Sears Financial indicating I needed to make an election on my small pension. I chose lump sum distribution. ING received my request for lump sum on 03/26. I called to varify that you had received my request during the 1st week in April. A very pleasant agent checked for me and said that my request had been through auditing and was in processing. I asked when I could expect to receive the money. He indicated that most payments go out the 1st of the month. I asked if I could expect payment around May 1st--He replied yes but that I should check once a week on the status.

On subsequent checks, status remained the same --In processing. At a late april call, I was told that it could take up to 45 days for processing. I indicated that there was no indication of that 48 day period in the letter or the 1st call. I explained that I had scheduled a Vacation beginning the 1st of June based on the info I was given by ING.

I was depending on the money and could they please expidite my payment. The answer then and during subsequent calls was that nothing could be done. Very, very Poor customer service. Can anyone in your company help me with this issue?

I have had nothing but professional, friendly, and helpful interactions with the staff at ING. There may be a brief (no more than 5 minutes) wait to get someone to talk to when you call in but I don't consider that excessive compared to many business places I call. I always feel satisfied with the interactions and results.

ALL OVER TRYING TO ADD MY SON TO THE ACCOUNT. SHOULD BE A SIMPLE PROCESS. WHAT IF WE REALLY NEEDED THE MONEY. THEY'D HOLD IT CAPTIVE.

I have had a savings account with ING for 5 years. I recently tried to add my husband to the account. This should be an easy process instead it was complete harassment. We tried at 4 different times to add him, from phone calls answering all 5 of their security questions from each of us, verifying our family's names birthdays, SSN's etc etc. We were each on our laptops with their customer service on the phone and it kept saying 'unable to process'. Then they would call us when we were away from our computers and ask us specifics in transaction amounts from random months such as February???!! It was complete harassment, I have no idea why they were making the process so completely difficult. We asked to speak to a manager, he said his name was Jeff and it sounded like he was smiling through the phone the more frustrated we got. I closed the account immediately when the smart a** customer service mgr gave us attitude. We placed our $30k back in a bofa savings acct. Maybe we were small potatoes to them with our mere $30k. SO glad I did not decide to transfer our checking to them, they are a nightmare!

One thing everyone should know about the ING direct, they may not charge for Account fees but they have fees. They can avoid the basic fees as they do not provide any other services like “Walking in to a branch and speaking with a human"
If you ever need anything you will Speke with robots, who are trained for one things reach into your pocket and collect the $$ for bank, no matter how old of an customer you are, you are just a number for them to take advantage of you.
With that being said they collect $$ in many ways.

As an example if you use "Bill Pay" form Ing direct and you send out $100.00
They will take the $$ "OUT OF YOUR ACCOUNT INSTANTLY" - NOT ON HOLD OR IN PENDING. IT IS LIKE THE CHECK IS CASHED THE MOMENT IT IS SENT.

They gain 3 fold with this approach.

1 - Because the $$ are not in your account they will not have to pay interest on it.

2 - If for any reason the check dose not cashed they will keep you $$ for 90 days without any interest or obligation to you. IT IS ALMOST LIKE YOU GAVE THEM INTREST FREE LOAN FOR 90 DAYS.

3 - If the check was important and did not reach to the receiver, the customer will have to pay "STOP PAYMENT FEE", even of the check is not cashed or has no possibility of cashing.

There are many other rules that will just does not add up like,
ING direct will not do Bank Wire – but they will gladly charge you fee for overnight payment. They also have limit on how much you can send, if you reach that limit they will charge 2ce for overnight fee for the same payment even if it going to same place at same time.

And all these rules are in place to take the $$ out of your pocket no matter if it make sense or not. They are the bank rules and these rules are or should be against the low.

I run a small business and I wish I could operate the same way with my customer, by tacking $$ HOSTAGE from my customer. Brilliant strategy!! Illusions of providing services but the moment they have your $$ you are no longer in control.
I have been a customer with ING direct for almost decade, and don’t get me wrong that they do provide a service, however they are like sharks and they wait for the moment you need your cash, and their call is – OH YA YOU NEED CASH, IT WILL COST YOU ALL YOU GOT!!!

SAVINGS – I DO NOT THINK SO!

Running a business is one thing – charging fee for something is also understandable. Harassing customer with rules that does not add up is just STEALING in my book and I for one do not stand for it.
I will gladly take my business somewhere else.

3 weeks now/ online service is now totally unusable.BANKRUPTCY?

This question pertains to ING or Sharebuilder.

Why was my buy limit order not executed, when the buy price was reached?

I placed a limit order for JNJ to buy at $61 per share. THe low price for the day was $61,
yet the shares were not purchased. I called cust service, and they game me some lame excuse
about the spread between the bid and ask price. I am wondering if it had something to do
with the fact that I asked to buy an odd number of shares (114) in a "all or none" transaction.
Or maybe I was at the end of the buy-queue, and there weren't enough sellers willing to sell at $61?
Or maybe other "high volume traders" got some preferential treatment, and they were put into the buy-queue ahead of me?

A related question: when yahoo finance or google finance says the lowest price for the day was $61 per share for a stock,
this is the lowest price that the buy-and-sell price was met, right?

Finally, one more question: Say that my buy limit order at $61/share is placed. Now suppose that I discover
that the lowest price for that stock was BELOW $61. Will this absolutely guarantee that my order will have been executed?

And furthermore, say the lowest price for a day was $60.75. Will ING buy the stock at 60.75, but charge me $61,
and reap a .25 per share profit? (assuming that the lowest sale price drops from $61.05 to $60.75 instantaneously,
and never touched the actual $61 buy limit order price.)

I have had several savings account with ING over the years and recently opened a checking account with them. I have NEVER had a problem with them or their service. I LOVE their checking because they do not chargbe overdraft fees. Every other bank I have dealt with should be fined for their overdraft charges and service fees. It outragous that they are kick people while they are down. You can never get on track once you start paying the back overdraft charges. I would recommend ING to anyone!!!!

FYI, if you ever want to close the account you will not be able to remove the externally linked account even though you have no open accounts at ING. Also, if you felt it was a liability, as I did, to have on-line access available to ING with-out any open accounts and still have your externally linked account – when you try and cancel on-line access to ING you wil be told that they can prevent access to ING and in turn the externally linked account but you will never be able to do business with ING again. Below are e-mails, recent, that have been copied and pasted here.

“Dear Miles,

Since you agreed to the Electronic Delivery Disclosure Notice (EDDN), you will receive all communications including statements and tax forms electronically. As a result, your 2011 tax form won’t be mailed to you.

Please know that we keep your personal information so that you can retrieve your statements, tax forms and open accounts in the future. We’re unable to make an exception and remove this information from our records even though you have no open accounts with us.

However, we’re able to disable your online access. This will also result in your 2011 1099 being mailed to your address on file. If you’d like to take advantage of this option, please respond to this email. Please keep in mind that disabling your access online will result in no other person including you, accessing your information online or on the phone. This will also prohibit you from opening any accounts with ING DIRECT in the future

Thanks,

Danielle Delgrego
ING DIRECT”

“Dear Miles,

This email will confirm that we have removed your online access, and also removed you from our marketing distribution lists. Keep in mind that you will not be able to open any additional ING DIRECT accounts in the future.

Thanks,

Mike Wynne
ING DIRECT”

Does that sound right to you??? Once an ING cutsomer it’s forever or never again.

I believe it’s true at this time. Sounds wrong to me.

My name is Reverend Barbara Oliver, over the weekend The representative from Citi Bank, opened savings and checking accounts for my brother Harold T. Bowles. Banking is very new to him, and he has been awarded a very large sum of money. Kim suggested that I help him open a saving account with ING, because he would be able to save, and the rates and interest are better. Yesterday I took the time and opeded the account, the final part was informtion that had to be verfied with and by him, I wanted to 3way the call because I know he would be nervous, and defenseive, and he would not answer readily, Well long story short, He called this morning several times, finally in complete frustration he just gave up. I called and spoke to a supervisor his name is Ken Sell, I have never in my life heard of an insitution that is so cold, and uncaring, Tyrone in not computer literate, he is re-entering back into society he does not have the skills, that most of have due to working and being in the work force, but to tell me that Tyrone is not the kind of customer you would have, and that your institution will not allow him to have an account. Whowww are you really that shallow, Well I am not sure what to do, after all there is no office for him to walk into and get help like at city Bank. in case you want to look into this matter his number is 116733344. I am his Sister, I can be reached at 646 - 465 2084 or At work 718 - 392 - 5626. my mail address is [email protected]. I hope that the representatives I spoke to and Mr. Sell are not a true reflection of what ING is all about.
Regards
Reverend Barbara Oliver

I put a sell limit order on BMY at $28.00 at Sharebuilder and it hit that target Sept. 14th 2010 of $28.00 later that month, but Sharebuilder did not execute my limit sale order. Why is that? BMY hit the $28.00 mark not once, bt TWICE according to BMY represntatives. On Sept. 21st 2010 and Sept. 23rd 2010

Sharebuilder tried to say it was something about the price not staying at $28.00 long enough and then switched to some exuse of the ask and bid price of the stock. If I put a sell limit order of a stock at a certain price, I expect it to be sold at that price. What say you. BMY price target of $28.00 hit twice, once Sept 21st and then again Sept 23rd and still not sold by Sharebuilder at my limit sell price.

During tough ecomonic times, money was taken out of my pocket to feed my family and pay my bills. Is this what ING bank and Sharebuilder is all about?

Nothing like having the website be down when I'm trying to sell off stocks on Sharebuilder in order to lock in profits. Too late. All my profits are gone due to your stupid website. The SECOND I get back online, I'm switching my accounts to Scottrade.
